I hope someone can help.
My Mum died ten years ago. She was adopted from Ireland by an English couple , my gran and grandad. I'm trying to trace my mum's family, I don't know the adoption details, I don't know anything other than my mum's birth name was Shirley and my grandparents took her to Norfolk.
Is there any agency that will listen to family, daughters of a deceased person and give them information?

Hi @PeacefulPottering

I’d start here. I really don’t know if you can get access to information as a relative but they should be able to tell you if you can.

Are there any family members who might have information?

Have you considered doing a DNA test, such as Ancestry, and seeing if you can do some detective work based on that starting point?

You can obtain a copy of your mothers "new" birth certificate from the "adoption" records in national registry of biths deaths marriages. It will give you the names of her adoptive parents and the date and place of her adoption.

If she's adopted in mainland UK you could then use her adopted details /birth date on the voluntary registers of birth parents and birth siblings seeking adopted relatives.
