Asking for a friend please. Is she able to get medicals privately to complete the process as her GPs have said they've got enough on their hands which I completely understand. Anyone ever did one privately? Do you mind sharing which private company you used? She's in London

Usually the GP surgery charge the adoption agency or LA anyway. Our surgery does them after hours. I am not sure to be honest but would suggest they speak to the ISW writing their form f and they should be able to help support

Ours didn't... We had to pay for ours ourselves

Can't help with the op as we did ours in February at our gp.

I wouldn't have thought you could do it privately as a private doctor wouldn't have your medical history or know you (appreciate doctors don't generally know all their patients but they will have your history)

Our adoption agency provided us with a letter to give to the GP surgery that basically told the surgery that if they refuse to complete our medicals they are preventing a child from being placed in a safe home and therefore against child safeguarding. It wasn't in those words exactly but that's was the gist of it. Ask your agency if they can provide a letter that shows the importance of it.

Oh yes our agency did this too, I'd forgotten that

I hope this is useful re Adoption Medicals. They are only valid for 2 years. I.e a Medical needs to have been carried out within 2 years of the application for the Adoption Order being submitted to the Court.

The update medical form is not as in depth as the first one.

Only £80 for me spent on a Medical Shock
