just thought I would share some lovely family news. My brother lives in Canada with his wife. 3 years ago now they decided to adopt, they decided to adopt from the Ukraine.

Whilst going through all the screening process, they heard of a scheme where they could host a child for 2 weeks, to give them a holiday. 2 years ago in the summer, a little 7 year old girl arrived in Canada, they fell in love with her and decided that they would try if they can to adopt her. Whilst she was staying with them, she used to mention all her dolls at the orphanage, these dolls turned out to be her brothers and sisters, throughout her stay, they discovered there was a family of 5 in the orphange. She went back after her stay, that Xmas my B & SIL decided to host her again, along with her sister. They arrived that Xmas.

Soon my B & SIL were smitten, on the girls return to the orphange, they were placed on the adoption register, they have to be on the register 14 months, for anyone to claim them. So the process was underway. This summer, they made the decision to host all 5 of the children, there ages are 17, 16, 10, 9 and 6. They returned to the orphange this August, the further 3 then placed on the register.

My B & SIL arrived in the Ukraine, this September, to start the legal proceedings of getting the 2 girls, everything went well and they now have the girls. They arrived in the UK, last Saturday, to show off there new family, sadly leaving the other 3 behind. They are lovely girls, and they are learning English so fast, its amazing.

The other 3 will have to wait until next summer, when my B & SIL are going back for them, thankfully the older 2 understand, so they can try and explain to the younger one.

I am so proud of my brother and SIL, they are amazing people, to give these kids a life that they wouldn't have had and to make sure they eventually come together, even though there is a years gap. Ukrainian government policy arrhhhh.

So I have 2 new neices, they are staying in the UK for a further 2 weeks, then flying back to Vancouver to start there new life.

Thanks if youve read this far, just had to share with you.

That's great news. Congrats on yr 2 new nieces, shame about the 10 yr old having to wait a bit longer. But at least yr db is committed to keeping their family together.

Yeah, its lovely. Its the 17, 16 & 6 year old that are left behind. The two girls are now 10 & 9 (it was the 9 year old, that came for a holiday, 2 years ago).

They like the word Crazy at the moment, they keep saying mama, papa crazy. Sweet, makes me smile

That's fantastic, especially for the older two who had next to no chance of being adopted. Will they still be able to formally adopt the oldest child next year? Hopefully they will be able to get the whole family together before the eldest turns 18.
