Adoption process

I need som advice: myself and my husband are currently going through the process to be matched with our child and we hit the matching panel in July. Apparently the birth parents are going to contest the adoption. What does this mean for us?? We are aiming to start introductions in August will that be delayed or is the contesting todo with after the 10 weeks when we apply for the order. Can someone please give me some advice. Thank you 😀

@Approved1988 I am so sorry. I am amazed that the SW is indulging this. When I was told the plan for the adoption of my daughters they gave me a date and there wasn't an option to mess around.

I think you do need to be patient though. Whether someone else has their children or not first really is neither here nor there, just whether the match is right. SW are doing the right thing in following due processes and making sure every box is ticked and allowing birth parents their right to challenge it if they wish. Yes it is rubbish for the adoptive parents, pretty much the whole process is, but as someone who has been there it is right, and once you are placed you'll look back and never remember those couple of weeks delay. Please try not to worry and keep in touch with your SW.

Thanks for the messages. It just unknown. No dates set for intros. We have MP date which is July but they mentioned 6th August intros but that will be delayed.

@jiggley that's awful. SS should of prepared for this when they matched with you instead of making you go this far then be let down. I hope ours isn't cancelled.

Hi can any one help we have been excepted onto stage 1 of the adoption snd health assessments coming up can i ask if they do blood tests and wgat thry check

Does anyone know how long you have to wait for the birth parents to contest the adoption and that they are contacting a solicitor. What are the next steps and how long do you think the introductions will be delayed for? Our SW seem to think it will only be a slight delay but how long is slight.
