How often did you meet with social worker?

Hi everyone. Just wondering how often you met with your social worker during home study? We are meeting every 2 weeks at the moment for about 2 hours at a time and doing bits of homework in between. We're working towards an April panel date. Had 3 meetings at home so far, with another 2 booked in before Xmas.

Maybe I'm just impatient but I feel like it's moving too slowly. Everyone talks about how intense home study is but I'm not feeling that way - between meetings I'm just desperate to move on to the next one.

I know I'll have to develop some patience before matching as it might be a long wait, but I'm the kind of person who likes to be proactive and I just wish the meetings were a bit more frequent. Is this a normal sort of pace? Thanks.

Completely normal. I think it's easy to forget that you are one of many people they are visiting, and then they have to go back to the office and type up the notes for each one.
Hang in there!
And also for matching, you may have to wait, but we only waited 2 weeks to be matched after approval! But the worst part was then waiting for intros. From being matched it was 2 months before we did intros, which was the worst part of the whole process!

Yeah that sounds normal to me. Matching has been quick practically straight away.

Well, we are on SW number 4 by now. (approved recently)

We had, I think, about five or six home visits, every couple of weeks.

Nothing in the world of adoption moves fast - so don't put the rest of your life on hold while you wait!

Remember, OP, that there is a possibility your future child will probably need more involvement with all sorts of agencies over their life - so best to learn a bit of laissez faire approach for your own sanity.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone. It is very hard to not let the process take over your life!

We had 6 assessments over 9 weeks, about 3/4 hours a session.....but I agree with everyone else......you really need patience to get through this in one piece (a lesson I learnt the hard way, I wanted to be proactive too! Haha) good luck!
