How old was your little one when they came home?

Just interested/nosey I suppose to see ages of children adopted.

I have a birth son who is almost 5 and my DH and I would consider a child age 0-2 but not sure how likely this is?

Thanks

9 months. But 2 other couples considered and turned her down because of the unknowns. We waited 9 months after approval before being even contacted about any children.

10 days old on a foster to adopt placement

Ted27 · 13/06/2018 17:59

8

2.5 and just a few weeks shy of 8.

The 2.5 was a 'big baby' really - small for age, wore babygrows at night, 3 bottles of milk a day, only just linking words together.

8 1/2 months and 4 1/2 months. Little squidgers.

Dontbuymesocks · 13/06/2018 20:47

EightWellies · 13/06/2018 20:53

hidinginthenightgarden · 13/06/2018 21:51

A few days days before first birthday.

Moominmammaatsea · 13/06/2018 21:56

14 months for first child and 11 hours old for second child.

Monkeybrains2017 · 13/06/2018 22:54

3 years old - just. Our first anniversary as a family is this month 😀

BangPippleGo · 14/06/2018 09:28

13 months, and we started introductions exactly 3 months after our approval panel.

Two friends who were approved at around the same time both brought their DC home within three weeks our us getting DS. One had a 15mo, another had a 10mo. Another friend had a longer wait but 5 months after approval brought home their 5mo.

Completely depends on your LA but ours seemed to have babies galore.

Dontbuymesocks · 14/06/2018 10:11

My LA also has a lot of babies, and not enough adopters.

universe83 · 14/06/2018 11:27

awww so lovely to hear all of your stories :) I would be totally open to older children if it had not been for BC we already have but we really feel a smaller child would be better and we know you need a big age gap

We adopted two siblings, one was 14 months & the other 2.5 yrs. The younger had been in care since he was 10 days old so no idea why things took them that long. Great ages - if you're able to take siblings you're v likely to get one very young but obvs it's double the work!

Metoodear · 14/06/2018 17:32

1 & 10 months

3catsadogaboyandahubby · 14/06/2018 17:34

14 months.

G1ggleloop · 14/06/2018 21:20

20 months and 30 months. Then 10 months for their sibling. Which tells you how awful social services were at getting the placement moving seeing as the littlest went straight into foster care at birth.

Mightywease · 17/06/2018 13:57

Nearly 3 and a half, he's now been home for nearly 3 years and is currently watching "Wall-E" while eating cheesecake!

HaveAWeeNap · 18/06/2018 22:39

2 years and 3 months.
Now aged 5 and a half... very smart, excellent vocabulary, doing very well in school; but sleeps in pull ups and has a dummy and a blanket.

donquixotedelamancha · 19/06/2018 22:36

9 months and 5 months. Neither were FtA. If you want really young FtA gives you a better chance, but 0-2 is eminently doable (though you might wait). The key is making your PAR as attractive as possible to children's SWs.
