Anyone got any nice ideas how we can tell our 6yr old birth daughter that she will have a new baby brother in a month???? She knows are a going through the adoption process and is excited, but we want to tell her the news next weekend and do it really nicely. Any ideas??

I don't have any ideas but I just wanted to comment as this really made me smile.

Enjoy your new DC! 😀

We made a Congrats, you're going to be a big sister card for DD1 from DD2 with her photo in the inside. We left it on her plate at breakfast. Her face as it sunk in was a picture.

That's so sweet!!! How old was she when you told her?

She was 5. She took the card everywhere, slept with it until DD2 actually came home.

We showed DS a picture of DD. We had spoken to him a lot about it throughout the process. He wasn't yet 4 so we took him to build a bear to make a bear for introductions.

We got our DD to make a DVD, just her doing fun stuff and like a virtual tour to show our soon-to-be-son around the area we live. So her outside her school, which became his school, etc.

The family finder took the DVD to the foster family so our soon-to-be son could find out about his new soon-to-be-sister.

We sat DS down and reminded him that we had been going through the process to try to adopt. We told him that we had been to see a group of people (ie panel!) who had agreed that there was a little girl who was perfect for our family and we were going to meet her next week. We had a photo to show him and some details (age, hair colour etc) to share.

It was literally the only time that he has ever been lost for words in his whole life Smile
