At our end of stage one meeting, we were asked him much reading we had done on FASD. I hadn't specifically read any books on that. I have now got one on the kindle and have scared myself witless.

Just that, really, not even sure what my question is..

What age child are you potentially adopting? We were adopting a baby, and so said no to any who already has signs of fas. But it's a spectrum, and often problems develop later.

Alcohol use in pregnancy is common for kids in care. But if it's something you don't want, then there are children that are less likely to have it. They'll likely have another issue, though!

There are past threads you can search.

Probably five or so,

Try not to panic! Yes, children in care are more likely to have been exposed to alcohol in utero. But there is a huge range of outcomes.

It's discussed a lot on this thread, so I won't repeat myself:

If you adopt a school age child you should have a clearer idea of how they are coping, their attention, focus, behaviour etc.

Don't go on the fb support groups then - you'll be a gibbering wreck!
Seriously it's horrible on paper - my adopted child has many challenges but is a joy/delight in many ways too.
