Do you have to keep tidying up for social workers after placement?! (Light hearted)

Thinking back to the days of frantic tidying during the approval process...

DD's awful SW is due here in half an hour. I'm desperate for a cup of tea and a sit down. DD is asleep. The house is covered in laundry after last weekend's little mini break. I don't want to tidy for such a dreadful woman!

But can we ever really relax our standards? Grin

I have no experience whatsoever but the way I'd look at it is that it shows you prioritise spending time with your DD over doing laundry, which is never a bad thing unless they have no clean clothes Grinas a social worker they've probably seen a hell of a lot worse than laundry! Enjoy your Brew

I'd have left it! As long as kitchen and bathroom aren't health hazards, and child's room is clean, definitely prioritise a sit down during a nap Grin

I once forgot that DD's SW was due - thought it was the day after. DD was covered in paint as she arrived, and had just decided she hated painting. I had to bath her with SW downstairs - DD decided she hated the bath too. So I gave up and brought a green and blue child downstairs to a house full of craft and paint stuff. SW was sat in couch with dog covers on (covered in dog hair). I cried afterwards...and laughed a month later!

Funnily enough she referred to it in some paperwork - about how much fun we were clearly having Hmm Grin

I hope you didn't tidy.

Yeah you can ease off a bit now. Probably best to clear up the vodka bottles- washing is fine.

DD2's useless SW started off getting bacon butties and cake but ended up on one brew (I can't not do that) and then an awkward silence when she wanted to loiter too long.

Rainatnight you have brought back many memories........I even used to clean the windows ffs what an idiot I wasHalo

luckylucky24 · 06/07/2017 12:13

We tidied but not to the same extent.

Rainatnight · 09/07/2017 05:54

Ha, thanks, all. Grin I love the painting story. And windowsills 2old? You were much better than I ever was, as were you donquixote, with your bacon sandwiches. The most mine ever got was a mince pie.

In the end, I flung everything in a laundry basket and threw it upstairs. Then I sat down with my book and a cup of tea for ten whole minutes and SHE CAME EARLY. 😠First time ever.

Brilliantly, as she was leaving, DD (who is all about opening and closing things at the moment) shut the front door in her face from her perch in my arms. Usually she gives people a charming wave, but she obviously knows...

Don't tidy for the visit. The placement I like best are the ones which feel safest, not the most pristine
