Adoption medical report

We have our first meeting with the SW next week (very excited!) but I'm worried about the medical report they will obtain from my GP. Nothing serious, but I've just had a '40 year old health check' with my new doctor and my blood pressure was on the limit (which is weird as normally it's quite low) and my BMI came out at 26.6 (I have put on weight and used to be a 10-12 but am now only a 12-14).
I may be being silly, but does anyone know what they ask in these reports? I just don't want anything to hold up our application. ☺

You are sent the medical forms first....you fill in the first section. Take them to your GP who fills in the second section in front of you usually.
It asks about medical history of you, and your family - inc what age your parents are...or were when they died. Family history of disease eg diabetes, stroke, heart disease etc.
Your history....fertilily inc treatment. Any depression or MH history. BMI is asked but no big deal if under 30.
Asks about exercise and food....
Its a few pages long, but not worrying.

Ah cool, so no surprises! The doctor called this morning saying they won't need to check my blood pressure again for a year, so they can't be that worried. I'm going to get a cheap blood pressure monitor anyway so I can keep an eye on it.
At the recent health check they asked about family heart problems etc and that was all fine, and I think I only went to the doctor with 'depression' 25 years ago as I wanted a week off work (I was young, please don't judge me...), but will that effect things?! I know when I was pregnant (unfortunately miscarried) it did have written 'mental illness' or something on the forms, but I don't know if this was in reference to that incident as I can't think of anything else, and it did annoy me that it was on there (but then the miscarriage happened so I let it go).
Fertility notes, no problem, I have about 3 years of those and happy to discuss any of them with SW.
I'm doing Slimming World and have lost 3lbs in 2 weeks (not loads but a start) and only have a stone to lose. Am also going to start at the gym again and stop drinking to help get the BMI down.

I had a high bmi and have had significant issues with anxiety - the medical was fine. It highlighted my weight (much higher than your bmi) and I lost a bit of weight but more importantly was able to reflect on my food issues and explain how I would care for children and ensure a healthy diet. My mental health was fully explored and I was able to evidence strong supports in place. Our little ones should arrive with us next month.

Don't worry too much about blood pressure - sometimes just having it checked elevates it a bit. Good luck.

Ah thanks, and that does put my mind at rest a little!

Good luck with everything! ☺

Re fertility your Gp will prob write eg ivf 2015 x3. Reason blocked tubes. Miscarriage. No further treatment desired.
It is as brief as that....the boxes are small Wink
The medical form goes from your Gp to ss via mail where the medical advisor says yes or no in terms of if you are healthy enough to adopt. It is not the sw who decides this.

Nothing you've said will be a problem!
