What does this mean?

We just received a letter saying "the time for filling the Annex will be extended to 4pm on X date".

Sent by the courts in relation to the adoption order.

Can anyone explain?

Filling or filing? Could it be the deadline after which they won't accept any further submissions/appeals? Has the SW sent through their bit of the report - I can't remember whether that section was called an annex...sorry, not much help. But may be worth ringing the court as they are usually quite helpful - they should be able to explain their own letter. Hopefully

Thanks. I emailed SW and she said they had requested an extension for the paperwork deadline as both SW work part time.

Won't do any harm to give the court a bell every so often, just to check how its going.

This time round we rather foolishly left the SW to get on with it and regretted not being a bit more involved when they screwed up, causing some delay. As B1rdonawire says, the clerks are usually very informative.

lucky the Annex report is the one that the social worker has to provide the court with, it's their assessment of you. The social worker must have requested an extension because the report won't be ready for the original date it was due. 'Filing' means getting a document to the court.

Thanks crisp. Between are two SW they only work 5 days a week which explains the delay. Very frustrating but they say no effect on the case so not sure why we were sent a letter. SW said she didn't even know they sent them out!

lucky because you are the applicant you are officially a party to the court proceedings and as such should be informed of any changes to the court timetable. The court timetable is all the dates and deadlines set out for reports to be submitted, future hearing dates etc.
