I met DS 10 years ago yesterday.

"You can choose where we go for dinner, DS. 10 years is big anniversary of our family birthday"

Yes, readers, we went to.... ...

IKEA

Congratulations Kewcumber and very well done! We celebrated 10 years too earlier this year but unfortunately we didn't go to IKEA!

JustHappy3 · 03/11/2016 21:10

I like his style!

tldr · 03/11/2016 21:53

Congrats kew. Meatballs? Grin

You been hiding from us?

MintyLizzy9 · 03/11/2016 22:59

A boy of excellent taste!! Congratulations! Flowers

PoppyStellar · 04/11/2016 13:08

This made me smile. DD also got ridiculously excited about a trip to IKEA during half term and the prospect of meatballs for tea.

Congratulations Kewcumber!

Congratulations.
Our kids like Captain America for their adoption day celebration.
I might suggest IKEA next year.

tldr - not so much hiding as too tired with too much else going on to post.

We went back to Kazakhstan in May and everything has been going at about a million miles an hour since. DS is finally being assessed for his EHIC/EHP/whatever its called these days; I've just applied for secondary school place (gulp); work is manic (and I work for myself so no-one to pass it on to).

Ironically given the statement progress, DS has really come on leaps and bounds over the summer and into his last year of primary. He has friendship issues which I think are unrelated to his adoption issues and he has this year just shrugged and said "never mind I'll start again in secondary".

I mean it's not a pleasant thought that he really has no loyal friends but he is handling it so well which makes things easier.

He's also being given a WISC test shortly as the EP thinks his academic ability is being held back by his anxiety issues and executive processing problems. He's also being assessed for Central auditory processing problems.

So lots of assessment but also lots of positive stuff happening.

Oh and he's given up rugby and taken up sailing. Oh goody lets swap a relatively cheap hobby for an expensive one!

Kew,. Wow, congratulations.

I know it is not the same but my quirky, dyslexic, autistic tendencies birth daughter started secondary school in September and is doing amazingly well!

Primary never got to terms with her dyslexia but new school gave done brilliantly so far. She is even cycling in and I (often a bag of nerves) am not worried.

High school can be a real delight for some and I never thought my dd would be one such child, but she has been! Really hope your boy does well and the end of primary is better than expected for both of you.

Lovely to hear your update Kew, sounds like all going well, (except ikea!)

Hels20 · 05/11/2016 20:44

Wow! Ten years. That is amazing. Well done to both of you.

Very sorry to hear he has given up the rugby - all those nice potential partners, Kew!
