Evening all,

anyway during prep they were talking about our portfolio-is this something we have to produce? No one has spoken about it I detail yet so panicking a bit.

Thanks ??

A portfolio should support your par in showing you meet the 5 competencies And show your learning etc about adoption in general and about the needs of children.
If there is something about your family such as birth children or already adopted etc I would include something about that.

We had to take the family book to show panel.
Could that be what your SW is talking about

Your sw will write the par and then you produce the portfolio and family book.

You could include info on local schools, children centre etc.

This was the case with us too.

Hi - I work in an adoption team, and we give our prospective adopters a portfolio to work on in Stage 1 - it is contained in a folder like you say.

It includes the family tree, ecomap, chronologies of addresses lived at, education and employment and major life events, experience of looking after children, health information, financial assessment, health and safety checklist, pet questionnaire and then a section on learning more about adoption.

All this has to be completed before the applicants can be signed off in Stage 1 and invited to proceed to Stage 2.

It's the hardest part of the stages I think but SO necessary. For both parties and it really does get you thinking about what kind of upbringing and life you've had. In my opinion anyway. :-)
