If you mean there are barely any children of ethnic minorities available for adoption then, sadly, the opposite is the case as regards some cultures/backgrounds.

Can you expand? Are you struggling to find a match or get an agency in your area that thinks they can match you? Some areas of the country do have a very high proportion of white British children waiting (95%+) compared to other areas, or nearly no children from certain backgrounds.

Yes I mean for matching with. Seems there are hardly any children that are of Asian background. Can anyone help with ideas/suggestions?

Have you looked in be my parent or children who wait? I know this month there was although they may not be the right age etc.

There are fewer than children of white or Caribbean heritage, yes, but they are there! Are you approved? Are you with your local authority or a voluntary agency? Have you talked to the Black Families Project at Action for Children?

When family finding I targeted LAs with fairly significant Afro-Caribbean populations as we were looking for a dual heritage child and it seemed more likely those LAs would have dual heritage children to place.

London boroughs and midlands - I would concentrate there.

Also, are you searching nationally yet? On the adoption register, registered with AdoptionLink or BMP/CWW? Exchange days? Also, you could consider sending out one page flyers about you out to various agencies (nice picture, short description of you and your strengths and what kind of child you are looking for), that worked for some people I know of.

Thanks guys, yeah we have gone through our own local authority. Registered with be my parent and adoption link.I will look into cww as well. Interesting idea about sending out one page flyers to various agencies. Will talk to our sw about help with designing something for this. Its difficult becoz you hear about other local authorities being reluctant to give away children to adopters who are not within their own locality becoz they then have to pay the adopters agency a fee. Isn't this contradictory when they say child's wellbeing is paramount then decide not to choose adopters from different district because of budgetary issues etc?!?

There is a fee when using another agencies adopter and this did used to make a difference - agencies would place within their consortium as this was usually cheaper. However everyone should be charging the same now and as much as an agency may need to buy a placement the map also sell some so it balances out a bit
