Routine for 12 month old

I was just wondering if you lovely people could tell me what kind of routine your little ones are in?
What kind of things do you do in the day and when? How often do you feed - milk and meals? How much sleep and when?

We are currently enquiring about a little one who is nearly 12 months old and I was wondering what I could exspect a general day to look like? (I do recognise that everyone will be different, and will enjoy doing different things in the day - just wanted some opinions!)

Thanks! Grin

DD was 1 yesterday. Typical day - get up 6 ish, breakfast (toast, fruit etc) lounge in pjs for hour or so listening to radio, washing up, playing, drinking coffee anything really. Around 7 - 8 ish OH goes to work so we make beds, do the washing and any other cleaning. She follows me round bringing toys to play with or gets involved. Around 9 ish we do something out the house (swimming, shopping, the occasional music/coffee group). Back by lunch for food (pasta, cheese, more fruit, yoghurt etc.). In the afternoon we normally spend the time at home or may walk to local park. I play with her for a while or do a bit of crochet or put music on and she dances, reading and the like. Around 4 ish I get dinner ready and she is ready to eat at 5. maybe a bit of cheeky tv time before dinner. at around 6 she goes in the bath for around 20 mins (sometimes i even take opportunity to clean bathroom!) and she has last bottle in pjs with a bit of singing. Pretty usual 'routine' i think.

Very similar to katie (although I do my crochet at nap times Grin) except we get him up at 7, bath at 6:30, story, bf and in bed by 7. He still (on a good day) has a morning nap - I put him down at 9:30 and get him up no later than 10:30. Another nap at 1:30, this one for 1h45 usually (he sleeps as long as he likes at this time).

Our pixie is ten months old. We are up between 6 and 7 at the mo, morning bottle on waking, nappy change and then breakfast 8-9 (baby cereal and fruit). We generally leave the house about 10ish for a morning activity-swimming, sing and sign, park, soft play. Lunch is between about 11.30 and 12.30- usually veg purée or soup, toast and yog. Afternoon bottle between about 1 and 2. A nap will usually occur after the bottle, sometimes there is a wee nap in the am too. Sometimes my husband will take him out for a walk in the pm, dinner at 5pm (whatever Annabel Karmel concoction I have cooked up) bath at 7, bedtime bottle lying in the bed with us and with night music. He usually passes out milk drunk straight away. My husband and I are both on leave- husband just working part time- so we tag team playing on the floor with him and sorting out housework etc. when at home. As we are a few weeks into placement we try to spend a fair chunk of the day in the flat with him.

Wake up anytime between 0545 and 0645, bf, breakfast of yoghurt/toast/porridge/fruit/egg, then nap at 10ish for 30mins - 1hr.

In between naps and meals we're either playing, on a walk, at soft play, watching cbeebies (when desperate), or we might be out at a group or doing the shopping.

Then lunch at 1230ish from a combination of cheese, omelette, beans, peas, chicken, fish, leftover veg etc, with more fruit and a few sips of water.

Sometimes he has two afternoon naps of about 30mins each but more usually now has one longer nap around 2.30/3pm.

Dinner at 5.45ish, bath at 6.30ish, then stories until bf and bed at 7.20.

Dd was 12 months on placement ( she is now three) and we stuck to the FC routine and then adapted it as she got older. I think it is important to follow a FC routine, as I know that it did give my DD some kind of comfort with the consistency of it. We also tried to stick to similar types of food that they gave her and slowly began to introduce new foods/textures.

In the beginning the routine was as follows. She would wake at 6am (sometimes earlier) and then would have a bottle of milk. After an hour she would have breakfast (porridge, weetabix) and then we would play. She would then have a nap generally 2 hours after waking and sleep for between 1 1/2- 2 hours. We would then get dressed and go out (in the beginning it was to the park/shop as I was funnelling, but later progressed to a Toddler group/music class/swimming). Then she would have lunch (FC always gave her her main meal then, such as stew and mash etc) and then have her second nap for about an hour or so. After waking, we would play again and she would have dinner at 4pm (pasta, sandwhich, fruit etc). We would then bathe her at five and then put her down after her bottle at 6pm.

After three months, we noticed that it was becoming more difficult to put her down to nap in the morning, so we scrapped this and gave her a longer nap after lunch (she would have lunch at 11ish). We also found that she was not as tired by six o'clock to sleep so we pushed it forward to 7' o clock.

I hope that helped
