Trouble with SGO

Hello everybody

Could one of you wise ladies (and gentlemen) please advise me? If a person has been granted an SGO, but the whole situation has gone monumentally wrong (through the 'fault' of SS) and the person has tried on several occasions to contact the IRO for help, but the IRO has not been in touch at all (over a two week period) what is the next step to be taken?

Thank you in advance x

Sorry, you'll have to help me with the acronyms....?

Without a little more detail, it may not be possible to offer you good advice.

If the SGO has already been granted then the IRO may not be of any help as they are only responsible for children who continue to be 'looked after'.

It really does depend what has gone wrong and why it might be the fault of the LA.

You could try the Complaints Officer, CAFCAS (if the LA) are not sticking to the Care Plan that was agreed in court, Director of Children's Services if you have had no joy with individual social workers or their managers, Local Government Ombudsman if you have gone through the complaints procedure and are not happy with the response.

Without knowing a little more detail it's difficult to advise you further.
Feel free to PM me if this helps.

It depends on what has gone wrong.
If a child is in immediate need/danger SS should respond regardless of what the child's legal status is.

Its hard to comment further with so little detail but I understand why you may not want to put too much on here.

www.frg.org.uk have a helpline and can give you advice on your legal rights wrt to kinship care.
