10 years ago today, I was doing introductions with her and she was so young and small

And now after a decade of challenges and achievements, great days and horrible days, celebrations and trials...everything from school issues, to therapy, to bringing a new brother home, to the most challenging behaviour I could imagine, to her GCSE results, and move to college, and contact...

WE MADE IT Grin

All the way to adulthood
I'm so proud of her today
She didn't have a great childhood all said and done, since it started terribly, and then the rest of it was shaped by that. But she's a survivor and a fighter and always will be, and we've had some wonderful times over the last 10 years
And I wonder what young adulthood is going to bring for her.

But WE MADE IT HERE, TOGETHER, AS A FAMILY!

sadly, SW's are STILL describing children as 'unadoptable'... my LO was described as this at 6 months old!! Sad...

She's had a lovely day, she's tired now but still enjoying herself (playing 4-in-a-row with DS who is staying up a bit late) Smile

We ate lots of cake, and it was delicious

excitedmamma It upsets me and makes me angry. It's such a horrid thing to say, writing a child off as somehow "unwantable"..by anyone Sad They have a mantra in the US when it comes to placing hard-to-place children, "there's no such thing as an unwanted children, only unfound families" I think it is. I am so glad that that professional was ignored

Thanks everyone. I'm so touched that you're saying all these lovely things, I don't think I deserve to be called inspirational at all. I have told DD that lots of people I speak to online have wished her a happy birthday and she said "cool", which in DD speak means 'thank you' Smile

Speaking of my middle, it's bloated from even more cake Grin She's just told us we're eating too much of her cake Grin It's going to be fully gone very very soon

She had a lovely birthday, and today has been good as well. She went to meet her mother but it wasn't a long meeting, DD's not been wanting to see her that much since the medication issue. Still I think it went well, and she has more presents - presents which I don't approve of in the slightest but am not saying anything

I'm still amazed that she's legally an adult now Shock 10 years have flown by
