Bran I am sure that like just about every stage of this there will be delays, so not expecting too much.

if i were you I woudl join adoption uk, get info about waiting children and keep phoning up about them. then their SW will phone your Sw which will put her under pressure to find you a child/children

how long to you have to wait before they will consider out of area placements? usually its about 3 months

We got the final call in the week so we are now 100% approved and on the adotion register, our sw seems to think we will be of use in her area, she is on holiday now for a few weeks so await her call when she gets back.

Well after all this wait, got a phone call a few weeks ago and they have someone for us, a girl 12 months old. We have met her sw and all parties are happy for it to go ahead.

I am just so excited and scared that something is going to go wrong. The sw all seem to think its a formality, but i cant help but worry.

forgot to mention that it should be going to linking panel end of march.

how often do you get to see her before then? I have no idea how the UK system works

All we have seen s a picture, we do not get to meet her until after the final panel agree and its ratified (usually within a week later) then we see her every day for 2 weeks before she comes and lives with us.

Definately have a panel date for end of the month. We meet her foster carer next week, and with the linking panel the week after all seems to be going ahead. A very exciting and nervous time.

wahey we made it throught he linking panel which was very easy (apart from a few tears on my part) their recommendation is they have approved it, just need to wait a week before its ratified, although the panel took less than 2 mins to decide they would recommend us. So provisional booked a session to meet her next Friday. All exciting.

Little update, we have spent a few days with her, and she is absolutely gorgeous, obviously a little wary at first, but has interacted well with us, and we have had kisses and cuddles. Helps that the foster carer is nice I think, Although its very strange being in another house being told to treat it like your own, when you have only just met someone, but its just the final hurdle till we bring her home.

lovely to have an update - how long do you keep visiting before she gets to come to her new home?

April - I first read your thread when I joined MN (I think) very early days anyway. I can't tell you how happy I am for you I also can't believe the amount of time this has all taken them to find your soon to be DD.
