ive namechanged on this, for many diff reasons(dont want to go into it) ive reached the grand age of 36 and am single and childless, i know i may still have children but time is ticking.Im wondering if anyone can help me on how i go about looking into serious adoption as i would love to give a home to a child, i have my own home/good job so no worries on that front and can be flexible at work should it be needed. Ive looked at the fostering agencies and they dont seem to be able to help me much, im in ambridgeshire if anyone can help as i would like to get ball rolling as time is getting on, pls private msg me if like.

Invest £15 in joining Adoption UK. Read their entire website

Consider , in very general terms, what kind of child/children you could parent. One, two or more? Age? What mind of special needs you could consider? Join a loacl group and meet RL adopters

Get details of all the adoption agencies that cover your area. Send them all a one page letter saying that you are ineterted in adoption, outline your circumstances and the kind of child you are considering.

If they are currently recruiting for adopters like yiu, they shoudl invite you to an information meeting.go alng to all of these you can. you will then have a follow up meeting in your home.

Aftre this, you have to choose one agency to go with.

You need to have a spare room, be able to take adoption leave and work part time once a child is placed. Yiu will need a great deal of flexibility at work, so this is a great advantage

Type in adoption team and then the name of your town or borough's near where you live, it is normally helpful if you don't apply to the L.A you live in as they cant normally place their own kids in the same town.
Best of luck

I am also single, same age, and live in the same county, but am approved to adopt via a neighbouring local authority. There is also a voluntary agency in Cambridge. Second the advice to read the Adoption UK boards, I've learnt a lot there as well as making some good friends. You are welcome to message me if you want to know more about how it has been for me.

Yep, Adoptionuk website can give you adoption agencies. Ring a few, don't think you have to stick with your nearest one. Read all the information on that website and then come back here and ask us how it works in reality Grin

And best of luck to you.
