Conversation I had whilst bathing my 3.7 dd tonight:

DD X (birth mum) couldn't look after me could she.

ME No darling she couldn't

DD So she gave me to you

ME Yes she did

DD I love X I'm going to make her a big cuddle

ME That's nice, why?

DD Because she gave me to you and I love you and your the best mummy ever.

ME lump in throat and thinking yes I think X is pretty cool too.

That really is something special, how lovely, treasure it forever. So fortunate that although your dd had a rough start, she has now ended up with "the best mummy ever".

I'm not the best mummy ever (grumpy old cow much of the time Grin) but I'm glad my dd thinks I am.

We are very open about her adoption she often comes out with random statements like that. Makes me glad the days of adoptions being treated like a dirty secret are over.

I'm not the best mummy ever either (ooh I have grumpy old cow syndrome too!) but my ds thinks I'm the best mummy because I'm HIS mummy, just like you are your dd's mummy and therefore, it goes withtout the saying, in her eyes, you are the best!

awwwww, thats so lovelySmile

We were recently at the start of introductions as foster carers and on the second day this usually friendly but shy and a bit clingy 10 month old beamed a beautiful smile when her adoptive mummy and daddy arrived.

I knew at that moment that things would go well for her and them.

A moment to treasure indeedSmile
