Should we ask for the title of this board to be changed?

Perhaps to University academic's common room?
So many off topic threads lately...

Title = Lecturer's Common Room

That excludes me then, which is fine if you only want lecturers or ex-lecturers, maybe. Blow off the PhD students & RAs and maybe Profs too.

I support "University Staff" or "U- Staff Common Room"

I was doing lecturing/seminars as a PhD student - and so are most of the Profs I know, even those much more heavily researched based... but a good point that it doesn't include PS staff, and a decision, has been made up thread already...

Not clear, and wouldn't help guide away those who want to ask about a school in Nether Wythburn.

"University staff common room" does the trick for me. It covers anyone who works in a university - including PhD students!

Yes would really appreciate widening it out to 'University staff common room'

I work in PS and it's so very tough at the moment 😭 we're definitely all in this together!

Was there ever an MN response to this request? It's been nearly a month since OP said she made the request. I wouldn't have thought it would be a tricky one. Will report this post to see if anything comes of that.

Mea culpa! We had totally forgotten about this. 😳We've changed the name now to University academic common room. Hopefully it will be easier to find and the purpose clearer. Thanks very much for the suggestion.

Thanks Becky- never hurts to check! - but could it be 'staff' rather than 'academic' please? The majority feeling was for that.

@BeckyAMumsnet - thanks Becky. Echoing @DoctorDoctor - I asked in my email for the name to be changed to 'university staff common room' to include both academic and professional services colleagues. Would it be possible to change this again please?

Another request for change to "university staff common room" - I have a PhD in sociology, work in professional services at one university and I am an associate lecturer at Open University and "staff common room" is much more inclusive of people like me who are adjacent to academia.

Come on now. It wouldn't be a university staff common room if there was good coffee 😉

I don't even have a common room in real life but in my virtual life I want the finest coffee known to humanity 😁
