Rotating tables in word for submitting papers

Hello, this is my first time posting 😀. I am submitting a paper and I have to rotate my tables so that they are longitudinal rather than horizontal. I am really struggling to see how to do this - do any wise people have advice on how to do this? Thank you so much for your help 🙏

This is how I would do it in Word, the tables will be on separate pages from the rest of the text.

• Select the content you want to change
• Go to Layout
• Open the Page Setup dialog box
• Select Landscape
• In the Apply to box, choose Selected text.

Word will automatically add section breaks before and after the text with the new orientation.

Another option is to make your tables in landscape mode in a separate document. Then save everything to .pdf. Then compile your manuscript plus tables into one .pdf for submission. But the solution above is probably better.

Insert a section break.
Change the layout after the break to landscape.
Add your table.
Add another section break after the table.
Change the layout after the 2nd break back to portrait.

Are you asking how to (a) change the paper layout so it goes from portrait to landscape or (b) how to easily change it so that the row titles become the column titles and the column titles become the rows?

If (a) then suggestions above will do it.
If (b) then I would copy and paste the table into excel, then copy it again and do 'paste special > transpose'. That will switch it instead of reading up to down, it will read left to right. Then you can copy and paste it back into your word document.
