I was looking for a topic called "child development" for this thread but oddly there isn't one.
I have 2 children, a boy, 14 and a girl,12.
My son is genuinely interested and knowledgeable about current affairs/the world/general trivia but it's become apparent recently from discussions and board games that our daughter has very limited knowledge and understanding about this. I don't think that we've helped her as much in this area as we ought and lack of schooling in lockdowns/Covid inevitably played a part. Like so many, we were frazzled parents trying to home school and work full time so just got through it.
I'm trying to talk to her more about world affairs and encourage her to watch programmes such as Newsround. She has enjoyed The Week Junior but she doesn't find it as engaging as my son did. She's keen to learn but I am out of ideas to make it fun and interesting (we've exhausted Articulate).
Can anyone recommend anything to help develop a child's knowledge of trivia, the world, current affairs through games, books or advise on fun ways to teach this topic? TIA.
