Are FT professional services jobs more competitive than PT ones?

I've done PT university admin/ professional services jobs over the past few years and moved up a couple of grades. I've always done ok when it's come to progressing/ finding new jobs. My personal situation now means I can look for a FT role in the same area (not even a step up) and so far I'm not getting anywhere.

Are these jobs more competitive? I've always imagined the PT ones would be but perhaps I was just projecting my own situation and getting the wrong end of the stick!

Just curious, really. I've had some good feedback anyway, and will try and take that on board in my next application.

In the universities I know there isn't such an effect for all professional services roles, but some areas of professional services are certainly more competitive than others. Could be the case that your area attracts strong f/t applicants keen to progress their career, but (unfairly as it may be) p/t roles don't attract the same strength of applicants?

You might be right! Thanks for the reply.

In my PS area there's more competition for PT roles as the field I work in largely attracts women. However, I've recently seen some really good quality, experienced candidates not getting the job at interview. I think because there's been a recruitment freeze for so long so we've stored up a lot of competition?
