I’m not a member of UCU - I was never convinced of their value to me. I emailed Kathleen Stock today to express my support and copied in her VC.

I have just bought her book to support her, but would like to do more. Do you mind pm-ing me her email, and the VC’s…. This silencing of debate makes me feel so worried.

No problem. It’s [email protected] and the VC is [email protected]. I used “message of support” in the subject line. I imagine someone is checking her email for her but I wanted to flag that mine was safe to open. You will most likely get an auto-reply through as she’s now on sick leave.

I feel so bad for her. I can only imagine how horrible it must be to be in that toxic environment and to keep having your words twisted and your every action misrepresented. From everything I’ve seen of her, she’s a lovely and thoughtful person. I hope that one day the people who have done this to her, particularly her colleagues and fellow academics, will realise the full impact of her actions. Many of them seem devoid of a conscience though so I am not holding my breath.

She has now left and I hope that she is alright.
