Disabled. Pregnant. Zero-hours contract. Can't work. Is there any way forward?

Currently virtually bedbound by a combination of fatigue related to long-term health issues and first trimester sickness. I know that I am entitled to no sick or maternity pay, but is there anything I can do to prevent them simply removing my ZHC on capability grounds?

I don't know myself Lapsed are you in a union? I think UCU do free membership for ZHC workers, but I'm not certain. Might be worth giving them a ring. I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Hi, LapsedVeganAcademic!

I'm so sorry you are feeling poorly. I was off work due to pregnancy sickness for four months, I can sympathise. hug
As MoodLighting was suggesting, if you are a union member, then you can contact them directly, or if you are close to someone who is, you may ask them to check it out for you? There might be special personal circumstances that you may want to discuss in detail, especially as you identify as a disabled person.
I do seem to remember that UCU did free membership for Zero Hours Contract staff - having been lucky to secure a permanent position only a few years ago, it was one of the first things on my to-do list. They've helped me negotiate sick leave when I had PND.

On a more personal note, I do hope things get better for you. Don't underestimate the impact of sickness on your spirits, so make sure you're looking after your mental health as well.
hug
