Has anyone here done their Cert CII?

Hi all,
I started working for an insurance broker a little under 6 months ago, and have no prior insurance experience. My employer knew this from the get go so obviously saw potential in me. (It’s not a sales role before anyone panics!)
I have now enrolled to do my Cert CII qualification as I’ve wanted to develop myself for a while now and this will also help me learn and develop my understanding of the industry. However, I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed when I’m studying. The CII provides an estimate of how long to spend on each chapter but I don’t think it’s nearly enough...maybe I’m learning it all in too much detail, the exam will be multiple choice.
Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Well done for starting the exams! The exams aren't designed to catch you out. Read, digest and follow the guidelines they give you time wise as they are quite accurate. A lot of it is common sense and reasoning.

I’ve done my Cert CII and agree the timings given for each chapter seemed a little odd. I found I picked a lot of it up by doing my day to day job.

It was a lot easier to absorb the information and understand it when it was used in a practical way.

Good luck with the exams!

Well done on Starting the exams, I've got a couple of staff going through the exams at the moment.

It can seem a lot to take in at first, but it does get easier (and quicker) as you go through the papers. The multiple choice exams are easy to understand and can give you a clue when you're unsure.

Good luck!

Thank you all, and sorry for taking so long to read your comments.
I was talking to a woman at work who said because it’s multiple choice it’s not hard. I think I’m learning it all in too much detail so trying a different approach now. I’ve also signed up for some webinar sessions to help me.
Learning via my day to day job definitely helps, but because I don’t have any previous insurance background, there’s still some bits I have to really think about to apply.
Does anyone have any tips in terms of how in depth you should learn the content (for example chapter two goes into a lot detail about precedents, and in my law modules at uni I had to remember the full case title, date, final decisions etc...) 🤓
Thanks again!
