Midwifery training

Hi everyone,

So basically I would like some advice on training for a midwifery course or more so, how you begin.
I had my daughter when I was very young which meant I was unable to go to college. So I’m starting off with just GCSE’s but I do have 5 A-C’s (sounds so pathetic saying that 😔)

I have just had my youngest and vowed to be my last, I’ve decided to put this time until he starts school to good use and thought I could further my learning.

I would love to start my journey towards midwifery but I haven’t a clue where to begin? I’ve been out of education for a while and reading all the different courses online seems to be a foreign language to me! Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Smile

All the different unis will have different admission criteria. Normally a-level equivalents will be something like AAB one of which should be science. For mature students they will accept Access course again you will need so many merits/distinctions some of which will need to be in science modules.

You’ll need some caring type experience.

Midwifery admissions always require an interview.

June is often open day season so contact your local unis and see when their open days are. Go along and talk to the staff.

It’s a tough course, you’re working pretty much full time on placement, including nights and weekends and then writing essays as well.
