Whose responsibility?

A tree outside my house (on the verge) has been damaged, I assume by the skip truck when swapping skips over, and a massive branch is now split. Obviously this looks really risky see pics.

I've called the council and explained it looks like it could imminently fall onto a car or even a person, they say they've logged it and someone will be out to assess it at some point....

I feel like it should be dealt with a little more urgently? The skip hire man said to call my builder to chop the branch off (!) obviously we won't be doing that.
Any advice?

There should be an urgent report online or phone number on the council website to expedite your concern. Or speak to the tree officer direct.

Chatillon · 15/06/2023 22:22

Perhaps phone Special Branch?

The branch manager should be able to sort it. Otherwise just ask for the assistant branch manager.
Doesn't matter which actual branch.

The skip hire people wouldn’t normally fix it, but they’ve been branching out.

Can't you just leaf it be?

justanothermanicmonday1 · 16/06/2023 09:31

Maybe branch out a little and see if someone locally can sort it. Either that or hurt lest it to the noun op to sort.

They might suddenly twig that it's dangerous, fix it and leaf the tree in a safer condition.

Cheerfulcharlie · 16/06/2023 09:57

I'm rooting for you that they sort this quickly.

andymary · 16/06/2023 10:32

Now that you've logged it with the council, I'm sure they'll send somebody round soon to sort out the root cause. Then you can stop being stumped about the situation.
Until then, just make neighbours aware to stay clear, and to leaf the tree alone.

Mabelface · 16/06/2023 14:46

I'm sure that they'll soon twig that you're serious.

HopeSpringsInfernal · 17/06/2023 00:50

Not that old chestnut!

sunshineandtea · 19/06/2023 08:54

Well, the storms last night mean the crack now goes right down the trunk so I've called the police. Don't want it to land on someone's bonce!

Hang in there guys, i couldn't leaf it to the council, they're obviously blooming busy so had to branch out and call the police to expedite the solution!
