Baby underfoot

At 15mo DS's Gymboree class, one of the other mums also has a 5mo baby. Initially the baby was either in a pushchair or playmat at the side of the room, but in the last session, she was placed on the floor in different places in the actual play area, while the toddlers were having their session.

This makes me pretty anxious. Aside from the possibility of somebody falling on the baby, DS and the other toddlers are fascinated with her, and I'm nervous that DS will poke her before I get to him.

I appreciate that she needs to keep both her children entertained while at the session. But I don't think this is the way to do it. It's not safe, and it makes it stressful for me and possibly the other mums.

Should I mention it to the organisers?

Yes, I'd say it's their responsibility to make sure everyone is safe.

I used to go to a baby singing/signing group where one mum used to bring her older, hyper, loud girl (about 4 I'd guess) along who used to run about shouting unsupervised among the babies (so opposite problem!). Organiser had a quiet word and asked her to keep her DD under control, the mum never came back!!

Yes, I am surprised they haven't stopped her from doing this, but definitely have a word. It is their responsibility to ensure safety.

Ooh, thanks Minnie and violet. It's helpful to know I'm not being over-anxious!

On reflection, I'm wondering whether it was just last week that was particularly bad. The regular receptionist wasn't on, but a very young girl instead. I wonder if she didn't realise this shouldn't happen...will try to work out how to raise it discreetly!
