And if so, what kind of thing do you buy?

And what do you do about the other children in the family - do you give them birthday presents as well?

What kind of thing do you buy - just similar to what you would give to any child having a birthday, or something special?

yes - it's in the job description

FiveGoMadInDorset · 05/05/2010 14:25

Yes, for the Godchildren,

No for the other children.

Godsons are now 15 and 18, I usually gave money to the older one, other one, t shirts, money sometimes, this yearhe is going to a rugby international with his father, my DH and a friend.

How old for yours?

BooKangaWonders · 05/05/2010 14:26

always, until one turned 18 and I stopped. The other only got cards when they no longer bothered with thank yous of any kind...

I buy birthday and Christmas presents for my goddaughter. I might buy something for her siblings when it's their birthday, but not at Christmas. I don't buy anything particularly large or special, just something thoughtful that I know she's into.

MimsyStarr · 05/05/2010 14:28

The same sort of thing you'd get for any child's birthday present - clothes and toys. I guess basically what I would spend on my nieces and nephews.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/05/2010 14:35

I buy for all of my godson's, but then they are 3 brothers!

I don't buy them anything special, just normal 'stuff' for their age. Or often I give cash to go in their bank accounts as there are 3 of them and they have pretty much everything they need.

That's great, thanks!

She is coming up for 4, so I was thinking about build-a-bear workshop.

Only thing is, DD will be soooo (she's nearly 11!!!)

Yes - I have 1 godchild, who I see regularly, and I always buy for him. Just a 'normal' present, whatever he's into at the time, or what his mum (my best mate) says would be useful. He's an only so no siblings to buy for!

Wheelybug · 05/05/2010 17:45

I have 1 god daughter - we buy her birthday and christmas presents. Spend more on her than we would 'other' children but also do the same for her sister - as a family they are 'like family'. so we kind of treat them like it.

Our god daughter though we have bought things for on special ocassions (we bought her a charm bracelet for her christening and add charms for special things - so far only the birht of her baby sister and starting school).

I have 3 godchildren of various ages (17, 9 and 8). I buy them birthday and Christmas presents, but not their siblings. Fot he 17 year old, I now buy gift cards etc.

Because they all live in the furthest possible parts of the country from where I live, I check with their parents first as I don't see them as regularly as I'd like to. Honestly - they couldn't live further from me (or each other. I am in the Midlands, they are in Kent, Cornwall and Scotland!!!!
