Feel like I've been poisoned by Tesco toy!

DD got a craft felt kit from Tesco (made in China) for Christmas. We just got around to opening it for something to do this wet afternoon. Immediately I noticed a very strong chemical-type smell. Within a few mins I started to feel quite unwell and headachy, slight sore throat too. DD says she feels fine, she's only 3.

Anyway I made DD put it away and aired the room.

Am I being paranoid? Could symptoms be psychological after I started off worrying about the smell?

WWYD?

Opening any sort of craft kit makes me come over all nauseous.........

Ha - good point. Yesterday she insisted on doing glitter. New that caused me palpitations!

I'm not sure, think you did the right thing though. Maybe try it outside when weather is better? Or take it outside, light a match near it and see what happens

Fwiw I do not trust Tesco. they have actually poisoned me twice, I had awful pain after eating their veggie burgers (with red kidney beans in) and thought I was imagining it, then again the next time, finally I saw a recall notice about them...great

Also bought a ready meal with pasta in it that was actually black. Very scary. No idea what caused it.

Tesco do not care much for your health and safety ime.

Feeling better now so perhaps I won't sue after all

Might return the horrible cheap tat gift though and mention it in case anyone else suffers similar.

I bought a pizza in Tesco on January 18th.

When I got home I realised it was out of date; ie: it said shelf displayed until 15th, eaten by 16th....and I had actually purchased it on 18th in the 'normal' pizza place (not the reduced goods bit)

I called my local council environmental health dept & they said Tesco were wrong for doing this but they saw no point in persuing it as I hadn't checked the date in tesco at the time!

I went back to Tesco, where the customer service lady rolled her eyes at me & slapped £2 onto the counter top.

In another time & place I might've argued it, but I've had Tesco to the back teeth lately & couldn't be arsed getting into battle with them.

You have to be really careful shopping at Tesco, I check the date of everything as their stock rotation is rubbish.

I was in my local Tesco the other week and saw pizzas out of date by 2 days, so I mentioned it to a member of staff who snapped back "no it is todays date" so I ask him what is todays date and he said the 13th, so I replied well those pizzas and dated the 11th you fuckwhit so get them moved!
