here

Welcome to the real world, bint.

Only it's not the real world, is it? Because, rather than having to go down to the dole office or take a job in a supermarket now that her 7-year meal-ticket has upped has upped and left, hard-done-by Elen has had to suffer the indignity of... doing a one-day underwear photoshoot.

The sense of entitlement of these people is at times just... breathtaking.

her quotes don't sound whingey to me!

monkeysavingexpertdotcom · 27/11/2009 20:48

[hmmm] Daily Mail. Not at all misogynist then. She has been with (and presumably supported) her partner for seven years and had children with him. Her lifestyle has changed. it was apparently his infidelity that ended the relationship. And she's unjustified in being unhappy about that?

bangandthedirtisgone · 27/11/2009 20:49

Shoulda put a ring on it

nancy75 · 27/11/2009 20:52

she's not moaning!
'Now I have to be careful with what I spend, but I can cope with that. When I was with Frank I would never, ever have modelled underwear because he would not have liked it at all. I haven't told him anything about this. I have no idea what he is going to say or think.

'But I'm proud of myself for doing them and this is my life now. I have to earn my own money. I have to work.'

i can't see whats wrong with what she's saying. also iirc she left him because he was shagging aroung behind her back, some women would have stayed for the life style, at least she had the sense to leave him.

FabIsVeryLucky · 27/11/2009 20:57

Her name is Rivas.

fishie · 27/11/2009 21:00

'bint'

Lulumama · 27/11/2009 21:03

bint

nice touch of misogny there

she actually seems refreshingly real

whatever way you cut it, she was cheated on by her long term partner and father of her children. that is shitty whether you have ££££ or not, she still must have been devastated.

people do have different standards of living and entitlement though, esp. if you have lived a super rich lifestyle

not sure why this warrants more than a passing 'meh'

MarioChristmas · 27/11/2009 21:50

Agree with Lulu

yama · 27/11/2009 22:01

I don't think footballers should be paid what they are.

I don't think they should be cocooned from the real world and nurtured into thinking that they can do what they want without consequences.

The only bad guy here is Frank Lampard.

UnquietDad - why should a women who leaves a cheating spouse expect to take herself 'down to the dole office'?

UnquietDad · 28/11/2009 00:22

Sigh.

I have not commented on the reasons for the split, though I don't doubt Mr Lampard is probably a cad. There's a surprise.

This may not be approved of in some quarters, but I do think everyone in this world should expect as a default to have to support themselves through their own efforts and own work. I don't think anyone should expect to be supported by anyone else. If they are lucky enough to be, and find this works, then fine - but they should realise they are lucky.

Miss/Mrs Rivas (yes, yes, I was using the spelling as it was given and only saw the correction later - shoot the messenger) sounds as if she expected a little too much in life. Doing an underwear modelling shoot is not exactly hard work. If she now "needs" to find work, then so what? Why is this being being reported as news? Is this not the normal state of things for most people??

I think we are in agreement then UnquieDad. I too believe that each of us should be able to support ourselves and any children.

I, and all the women I know, do so I suppose that is why I found your op a bit distasteful and anti-women.

UnquietDad · 28/11/2009 00:32

I mean, come on, if she posted on here and had presented this as an AIBU she'd have been torn into !

OP posts:
yama · 28/11/2009 00:34

Sorry, reading that back I realise I come across as a bit aggressive.

I don't mean to be.

I don't defend Ms Rivas. I am just uncomforatable with the idea that if a man leaves his partner then she is to end up destitute.

It's so old fashioned.

UnquietDad · 28/11/2009 00:34

The tone of my OP may have come across as a little misogynist and if it did then I apologise.... it's more anti-pampered-sleb than anything...

OP posts:
yama · 28/11/2009 00:35

Then we really are in agreement.

Ivykaty44 · 28/11/2009 00:38

daily mail hate single mums of any kind.

UnquietDad · 28/11/2009 00:42

Well, that's probably true.

OP posts:
Ivykaty44 · 28/11/2009 01:07

well at least they don't discriminate

TwoIfBySea · 01/12/2009 23:06

Now say her ex had left her with huge debts that he had run up including rent arrears, had dumped her for a younger, stupider model, then she could have gone on about how tough life is.

I'm with UnquietDad on this, life as a WAG is hardly taxing and stressful, it is a free ride to a life of luxury. Face it, if they had to rely on talent for that very few of them would be having to scrape by in a £3mill house.

AnyFucker · 01/12/2009 23:11

life as a wag is "taxing and stressful"

imagine worrying every minute of every day when, not if you will be replaced by a younger, bendier, more pliable model...

does Mrs Beckham look relaxed and chilled to you ?

No, she is in fear of her life(style)

not for me < shudder >
