Help! I accidentally put DS's red book in the wash and it has turned to mush... WWYD?

This morning I put on a load of mixed washing from the floor where it had been chucked last night and I inadvertenly picked up one of those cotton shopping bags which contained DS's red book (from when we were at baby clinic last week). Yes I know I should have moved it and put it away earlier, but you know how things can be.

Didn't spot it as I shoved everything into the machine, but there were also plastic bibs in there so I expected some 'lumps'.
What can I do now? Nothing was left other than the plastic cover - the paper just turned to mush.

DS is now 7 1/2 months - Do you think I can get his weigh-in / vaccination details from the health clinic?

Most annoyingly that book was the only place I had recorded his 'firsts'. Oh and the place I kept the lovely note I received from the midwives who delivered him.

Am absolutely gutted and very angry with myself and also wih DH who moved the pile on top of the bag in the first place... but yes I should have checked....

they will have his details and in s short while no-one ever asks for it or what he weighed at 22 weeks or anything.
Sad about the 'first' thing though.

DH put DS3's red book in the recycyling...

TBH, apart from the vaccinations (which are kept on his medical records at the GP anyway) I never needed it for anything else - even though I religiously took DS 1 and2's to every medical appointment they ever had 1

Oh what a shame

I expect your clinic will help with the details but you may need to give them a bit of time to get them together. If you ask your HV for another one asap you may be able to remember more than you think and she ay have records that will hep as well.

Thanks all - appreciate it - still feeling a bit lousy but at least I didn't put DS in the washing machine instead. Note to self - must make duplicate records of the important things and tidy up properly!

You should think yourelf lucky that you only have one book. DD has four health records that I have to keep together and remember to get from last GP. Currently we are in Switzerland and we visited a really nasty doctor. Because I hadn't brought all her vaccination records to the appt. with me, she threatened DD that she'd have to have them all redone to be on the safe side. Needless to say we haven't used her again.

The Red Book isn't important, it really isn't.
