the picture near the bottom looks like the dog's about to poo [childish emoticon].

I particularly love this bit:
"Do I worry about growing old without the possibility of children or grandchildren? Sometimes. But then I think of my mum, who had seven children, and how she sits alone in her room every day." So why don't you just visit her?

Stupid woman. I really should stop reading her articles.

  • and go and visit your mother fgs
Thingiebob · 27/07/2009 19:36

She clearly has issues with ageing, losing her looks, being single, being divorced, never having kids, and so on and so on...

She makes her money from vomiting this shit out in the Daily Mail. I wouldn't take her too seriously.

Although occasionally when I see her picture I do get the urge to smack that strange forced wide-eyed rictus she thinks is a smile off her face.

snigger · 27/07/2009 19:38

knaw?

KNAW?

I can only apologise.

I can spell.

swineofthetimes · 27/07/2009 19:39

She is a self-absorbed twat, she really is.

TheCrackFox · 27/07/2009 19:41

She really should think about getting a soft fringe - it could transform her big 'ole moon face.

GwarchodwrPlant · 27/07/2009 19:48

Please get her in for a chat MN, oh please, please, please!

But she hates sahms, and wohms, and wahms, she hates mums, even the word mumsnet would bring her out in giant urticaria - she'd not be able to communicate with us without retching with contempt and gnawing at her own limbs. I think it's a longshot she'd agree. We'd have to pretend to be dogsnet for the day, adn then barricade the door once she was in.

snigger · 27/07/2009 19:58

See, this is where MumsNOT will come into its own.

ROFL at Dogsnet.

Dear God, if there was a candidate deserving of a MN webchat, it has to be Liz Jones. That article was so wrong in so many ways. She takes self-absorption to giddy new heights.

"I might look young on the outside, still wear platforms and pigtails and ride ponies...". Liz, you don't look young on the outside and wearing pigtails when you're older than 12 is insane. And ride a horse, FFS. You're too old for Pony Club.

bleh · 27/07/2009 20:56

Yes, I liked that bit too. No darling, you don't look young. And wearing platforms and pigtails does not make you look young, it makes you look deranged. You're 50 FFS.

There was another article about how she ate "normal" food for three weeks when her sister was visiting. She went from eating practically just watermelons to shoving half a kilo of butter and a pint of cream into every meal and put on weight (quelle surprise). I may be totally, wrong, but that's not normal, is it?

Frasersmum123 · 27/07/2009 21:09

She has too much gum for her teeth.

I wonder what her own mother thinks when she reads her drivel? Surely you cant hate mothers without hating your own?

glasjam · 27/07/2009 21:18

She is so seriously, seriously troubled that it's almost like the journalistic equivalent of watching Susan Boyle from Britain's Got Talent. I thought one of the saddest photos accompanying that piece was of her sitting on her pristine, child-free sofa. I hadn't ever noticed her chest before but seeing that photo reminded me that this was the woman who basically had her breasts amputated because she loathed them so much. This woman doesn't have issues with mothers, she has issues with woman-hood itself.

I also find that photo of her as a child incredibly poignant. Her expression is that of someone incredibly sad and depressed.

kathyis6incheshigh · 27/07/2009 21:20

We mustn't assume her mother is sitting on her own in a room because Liz won't visit her. Maybe her mother won't let her in.

daftpunk · 27/07/2009 21:23

i quite like her ....makes a change from all the "isn't married life with kids wonderful" crap .....

I do admire her really. I have to admire anyone who can get someone to pay them for writing such self absorbed drivel. Which brings me nicely to her comment about how she keep the office going in times of recession while her colleagues are off on mat leave. Really you are so important? Gosh I arally am in the wrong job (Saunters off to write some self indulgent dribble and see if dm will will pay me for it.)

nellie12 · 27/07/2009 21:50

really. must get the hang of spell check.

bleh · 27/07/2009 22:09

Will be important, if you're wanting to write self-obsessed articles for the DM.

wahwah · 27/07/2009 23:08

I wanted to be annoyed, but just ended up feeling sad for her. What a swizz.

hester · 27/07/2009 23:13

I must admit I do always have a good laugh reading Liz Jones - she is like a fabulous spoof of the modern self-obsessed narcissistic female columnist - while also feeling guilty because she is clearly deeply troubled.
