what is it with these short dresses?

They aren't bad looking lasses but is it me or are these clothes horrendous?!

Like the cream dress (shoes hideous and totally mismatched though), not sure about the blue on a young girl.

They are lovely girls though, I always liked Fergie and they seem to have her sense of style.

georgimama · 05/03/2009 06:44

I'm so glad Fergie has started wearing Vivienne Westwood - for one thing she's supporting British designers, and for another, VW makes clothes for women who have boobs and a bum.

Her daughters are very very pretty. We have become too accustomed to seeing size 6 clones of Keira Knightly wearing indentikit clothes.

georgimama · 05/03/2009 06:45

That's a shame if that's true about Emily Blunt. DH knew her father quite well, and said she was lovely when she was a little girl. He hasn't seen her since she was about 10 though.

Lawks · 05/03/2009 06:50

The blue dress is a bit of an error, but the other two look great. Damn site better thgan me on an average day anyway!

nooka · 05/03/2009 06:50

Very unflattering. Funny really because they must have access to lots of advice, and I have seen them both looking perfectly attractive. I agree the one on the left is standing terribly, which doesn't help. Possibly she is wearing ridiculously uncomfortable shoes. They certainly look a bit odd. Colours are fine, just the style, the cream jobby is too short and makes her look like she has very sloping shoulders and that her breasts are very low. For some reasons her arms look very short too. The blue one is rather odd - would look better on a grande dame/old lady perhaps? Fergie clearly has made the best choice there, nice and classic. But maybe it's just a bad photo?

All goes to show designer dresses don't necessarily make you look good. Keira Knightley and Emily Blunt look pretty awful too. I quite like that orange one on Miranda Richardson though

Saltire · 05/03/2009 08:07

I think perhaps the way the girls are standing doesn't help . However, I ahve commented on here before that they do sometimes wear some pretty awful things, especially at formal Royal occasions

like here. Not the one in green obviously.Although that green thing is something else
Or this hat.
But the poor girl, the press are always saying she's fat, and there were photos of her in a swimsuit with some pretty nasty comments.

Saltire · 05/03/2009 08:11

here she is dressed as young girls her age should be dressed

fartmeistergeneral · 05/03/2009 08:18

The dresses are just not my cup of tea, apart from Sarah's which is OK.

I find their relationship quite smothering. I'm basing this purely on the information I have gleaned from tabloids! I just remember the 'sitting from morning to night on a Saturday watching DVDs' thing when I thought, why aren't they out with their friends?

Also, Beatrice looks so freakily like a 50/50 combo of Sarah and Andrew it's scary!!! Eugenie looks like neither - all the genes were used up with Beatrice!!!

mayorquimby · 05/03/2009 10:33

is the one on the left kelly osbourne?

PortAndLemon · 05/03/2009 10:55

They are perfectly pleasant-looking girls, and I don't think the dresses are too short, but I don't think they are particularly nice dresses -- probably on anyone, and certainly on them. They are both curvy and neither of those necklines does any favours at all to curvy women.

chocolatedot · 05/03/2009 11:34

The dresses just don't suit their shape and while Eugenie's shoes may be very of the moment, they are very unflaterring for her.

beanieb · 05/03/2009 11:36

Beatrice is wearing the best of the two, the other one has a horrid neckline which makes Eugenie look hunched. I think both dresses are quite unstylish though and far too old for them.

I think the dresses are hideous. I love Emily Blunt's though.

It would be so easy to criticise but I can remember so vividly the stuff I was wearing at their age. I can't imagine the press would have been kind. And I didn't have to deal with issues of etiquette and protocol and stuff ....

Simplysally · 05/03/2009 12:37

The blue dress is quite unflattering from that angle but it probably looked ok when Beatrice put it on. If she was facing the cameras directly I bet it wouldn't look half as bad. It does look a size or so too big though.

I wouldn't team black shoes with a cream dress personally but I'm not 19 . It's probably bang on trend for all I know. Personally I think Eugenie is prettier than Beatrice.

We've all probably worn hideous unusual outfits which looked funky or sexy to our teenage eyes at the time which thankfully weren't captured for posterity. Even if they were told what to wear by someone wiser, it's no saying that they'd actually wear it.. they are probably as stubborn as anyone else.

beanieb · 05/03/2009 23:40

Eugenie looks fab here though!

TsarChasm · 05/03/2009 23:47

I agree that picture is fab beanie, but it doesn't look much like the girl in the first picture to me. Airbrush?

beanieb · 05/03/2009 23:48

yeah - total airbrush. I love the yellow top she's wearing.

Nancy66 · 06/03/2009 16:02

I can't stand Sarah Fergusson - she's always spouting the same old psyco-babble crap. Still bleating on about being called 'the duchess of pork' and how more people wanted to fuck a goat than her...get over it - it was 18 years ago.

bandgeek · 14/03/2009 13:37

Just reading that article on beanieb's link, I didn't realsies Eugenie had surgery to correct a curverture on her spine. Maybe that explains the less than perfect posture?

MargaretMountford · 14/03/2009 13:42

On the subject of Royal grandchildren ,I think that Zara Phillips is a very pretty girl but her clothes are truly awful - she looks great in riding kit though
