Marco Pierre White. The others learnt it all off him. Who else likes him then?

hugh fearnely whittingstall- dh i very when he's on LOL

the others we like are the hairy bikers though for entertainment much as cheffing skills

snigger · 03/10/2008 12:54

LOL to incapacitation at "heights of mean-spirited wank".

I shall be stealing that.

captainofthemummies · 03/10/2008 13:55

You lot have really burst my chef-bubble. I thought Rhodes was nice. Hugh Fearlessly-Eatsitall is good too, v down-to-earth I should think.

44christmaspuddingsinarow · 03/10/2008 13:56

James martin, I would love to keep him hot at night

Plus he makes wonderful roast dishes and trad food yummy.....

noddyholder · 03/10/2008 13:56

Love gordon for all the wrong reasons.Nigel slater best food

bronze · 03/10/2008 13:57

Another for Hugh F-W

Szyslak · 03/10/2008 14:39

Nigella, because her book 'How to eat' got me interested in food and cooking.

Don't like her on Tv though. Last tv series was cringetastic.

Still love her though.

bluebump · 03/10/2008 20:58

James Martin gets my vote too, not that i've read any of his books...

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/10/2008 21:03

Jamie Oliver though it is probably ultra-naff to like him. Because his books have the highest hit-rate of recipes that surprise me with how good they are and that I make again and again.

Hugh F-W's fish & meat books have probably taught me more actual technique but I don't find him that appealing to watch.

Antony Worrell Thompson for me, & Nick Nairn.

fishie · 03/10/2008 21:08

hugh fw. good food and he is very funny in earlier progs.
nigella. we like the same things to eat.

Sparkletastic · 03/10/2008 21:10

What's with that Valentine chap that's on at the mo - has he come from somewhere or is he a mad toff that some Beeb talent spotter has groomed for stardom?!

Gordon for shaggability.
Nigel for being the Alan Bennett of cookery.
Jamie for reliable and tempting recipes - I'm with you Kathyis

MrsBates · 03/10/2008 21:12

Fanny Cradock

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/10/2008 21:12

LOL @ Alan Bennett of cookery - very good

Mercy · 03/10/2008 21:12

Brian Turner, Anthony WT , Kevin Woodford and Tony Tobin any day - corrrrr

But seriously, I like Nigel Slater and HFW for simplicity and interest in wider food issues.

I'm still a crap cook though.

Mercy · 03/10/2008 21:16

Oh he really is, I agree very good!

I love Alan Bennett

nothot · 03/10/2008 21:21

Tony Tobin has a restaurant near here - I've been there (birthday) and he is lovely, if a little short.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 03/10/2008 21:23

hairy bikers do it for me - if they count!

snigger · 03/10/2008 21:40

Actually, you know who else is v. good with regards to food you actually MAKE - Tamsin Day-Lewis.

Charlee · 03/10/2008 21:46

Jamie Oliver!

He is fit and a good dad/partner/cook. He comes across as a very kind man and he is helping the nation.

Closley followed by Gordon - he is also quite fit and funny.

captainofthemummies · 03/10/2008 21:47

Oh for food you acutally make - sophie grigson.

Gordon - vile and foul.
JO -vile and false.

southeastastra · 03/10/2008 21:48

baldy bloke on the sunday show on bbc2

snigger · 03/10/2008 21:51

Does anyone remember when Saturday Kitchen used to be whole cooking shows interspersed with Gregg VegetableSeller flirting hopelessly with hot chefettes and failing piteously?

PheasantPlucker · 06/10/2008 17:07

Fanny Craddock for being so totally in touch with ordinary people, and making recipes that have really stood the test of time....

Otherwise Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall for being fab and slightly batty, and teaching me to make a lovely fish pie for the family. And for liking cider.
