DS hates changing rooms because of insecurity

DS hates PE at school because of the changing rooms. He’s in year 8 now and he really stresses when it comes to changing for PE so much so he will be dreading the day he has it more and more. Currently it’s on Fridays and by Wednesday night I can tell he is fretting about it. He sometimes says he feels ill or his tummy hurts on friday morning but by the end of the day he is completely fine. From what he’s said he hates how rowdy the other boys can be as soon as the teacher isn’r in the room, the main thing though is some boys make fun of others by trying to pull their undies down when they aren’t paying attention. I think he’s insecure about others making fun of his privates and I know he’s going to be a late bloomer most likely which makes things worse for him. Any thoughts? He doesn’t want me bringing attention to it at school

He may not want you to inform school but for the safety of everyone you need to. Be honest with him and explain that he won’t be in trouble and school will handle it delicately.

Just going to echo what Sirzy said. School will want to know as it’ll come under safeguarding.

The school could do a PSHE lesson on behaviour as a whole, part of which includes behaviour in changing rooms.

Yes another one saying you need to take action. Pulling other peoples pants down is sexual assault. Your son may have his own insecurities but that’s an aside - he’s afraid of being sexually assaulted at school, others will be too, and the school need to know it’s happening.

Yeah thanks for the advice I’ll contact the school. I just don’t know what to say to my son for reassurance about himself
