Bounty bar - dark chocolate alternative bars

An elderly relative loved the dark chocolate Bounty bar which is now discontinued so I wondered if anyone has found a chocolate bar that is very similar please?

It must be dark chocolate.

Wot? No!
One of my favourites too, no wonder I've not seen one for a while.

Sorry not to be of help.

RandomMess · 31/10/2026 19:31

No, you can get dark chocolate peanut butter cups though. Nowt like bounty I agree.

A quick Google tells me Aldi does them.

The red Bountys were fabulous. However I picked up some Ruffles bars in Home Bargains, raspberry/coconut covered in dark chocolate.

UserName00747 · 31/10/2026 19:32

Could you melt some good quality dark chocolate and dip the milk chocolate bounty in it?

Ted27 · 31/10/2026 19:34

I did see some ruffle bars in B&M yesterday, which are raspberry flavoured.

I really miss red Bounties. I have seen a recipie to do home made ones, I must get round to doing it

I’ve had these before and liked them

I heard them talking about this on Radio 2 the other day and Sara Cox was saying she makes a ‘mouth bounty’ by eating some dark chocolate and then a mouthful of coconut whilst she is eating the chocolate.

There is an Australian chocolate bar called a Cherryripe. Its dark chocolate with coconut and cherries and you can buy them from a few shops:

Search SANZA

Does Aldi still do Romeo bars? They are Bounty dupes and come in milk & dark chocolate varieties.

They look gorgeous. I love cherries and coconut. Ask for a bottle of ginja liqueur every Christmas.

AuroraBloom · 31/10/2026 21:15

B and M sometimes sell Cherry Ripe bars.

Sounds like the 80s chocolate (UK) Cabana.

You can get coconut macaroons at Asda or Aldi which are dipped in dark chocolate. Very similar taste to a red bounty bar.

Dahliadaily · 31/10/2026 21:27

I got one of these this week and it was really lovely. Not the same because you have a sort of nut butter layer but seriously good and you can only eat half.
I bought it at a train station MandS and it was £3.80 though! As I dashed for the train I assumed I must have rung it through twice by mistake. And even then it would have been steep.

Highly recommend and I don’t think I’ll ever eat one again at that price.

Pret does a dark chocolate coconut bar (well, "bite").

I found a recipe online. Basically mix coconut and condensed milk to a thick gloopy paste. Shape this with wet hands and put on some baking paper, pop in freezer to chill. Melt dark chocolate and then dip the cooled coconut shapes in and cool again. Delicious but so many calories 😋

I have that recipe from my domestic science book around 1967. I'll have to look it up.

Costco do coconut macaroons with dark Belgian chocolate for £4.99- I’m ashamed to say I can polish off an entire (massive) box in one sitting.

I miss red bounties - why would you discontinue something so delicious and keep making the awful blue ones?!?

Hope you find something that works as a replacement! The Mrs Crimbles chocolate coconut macaroons are ace but aren't really the same.
