Won't the advice to keep a cash reserve at home affect the economy?

If a large amount of cash is taken out of circulation, what is the impact on the economy?

If every adult hoards £100, that's £5.5bn taken out of the economy?

I think the bigger issue with the cash issue, combined with people stockpiling this month as well, is most people won’t get that £50 or whatever from their current savings, but take it out from their current account. Add to that people spending a bit more this month on their supermarket shops to build their stockpile, then many people might feel they’ve got less cash this month and cut back a bit on more treat spending.
