What’s the best part of being newly slim.

I’ve gone from just over 18 stone to 9st 2lb on WLI 2 years ago, so almost a whole person.! If you too have lost a life changing amount of weight (that’s entirely subjective, life changing for you) what has been your favourite moments beyond the astounding health benefits. ?

I’ll start . I can ride again , for the first time in 15 years.

I can shop for clothes that I like rather than just settle for dark coloured ‘tents’ .

Oh well done, it’s a great feeling. I loved being able to buy new clothes and I just felt like I was able to move a lot easier and skip down the road. (Sounds obvious really).

You can do handstands.

Hahahahaha. This is not something I dare to test but I like your style.

Windthebloodybobbinup · Yesterday 11:03

You can cross your legs comfortably! You can bend over without losing the ability to breathe. You don’t have to worry about squeezing into airplane seats. Your balance is better.

Catching my reflection in the mirror.

Gall10 · Yesterday 11:07

after a lifetime of being overweight/obese I just love weighing myself & looking at myself in a mirror….knowing I did it all through healthy eating!

loughShore · Yesterday 11:07

Getting up off the sofa - as many times as I like - without having to even think about it.

MachineBee · Yesterday 11:09

Being able to wear tights comfortably and enjoy wearing close fitting clothes like jeans or straight dresses.

InfoSecInTheCity · Yesterday 11:13

Similar to you, I lost 10stone so half the person I was. Went on a work trip to US recently and was actually comfortable in the plane seat, could have ‘assumed the emergency position’ if needed, plenty of room on either side of me, could walk up and down the aisle without hitting people. Also able to buy clothes in any shop and I bloody love my collarbones.

Nasty! Maybe you are thin, but you are not a nice person.

Come on let’s keep this an upbeat celebratory thread. No matter how you’ve done it. There are no ‘best ways’ . Or worse ways. All that matters is that we have all made our lives substantially healthier and each of us have so many other little things that make our lives in smaller bodies so enjoyable.

I absolutely second @loughShore. The joy of just springing to my feet in my 60s after a decade of huffing puffing and rocking to get out of an arm chair. Snuggling up with DP and being a lot smaller than him.
A newly rekindled sex life 🎉🎉🎉..

Being able to wear a dress or a skirt in summer without chub-rub-preventing underwear. Also wearing swimwear and shorts.

gravitarse · Yesterday 11:42

I don't thigh rub is necessarily exclusive to overweight women

Gettingbysomehow · Yesterday 11:42

Well done!!! Me too 6 stone on jabs. It takes me ages to get dressed now. I cant decide what to wear.

Weightloss1234 · Yesterday 11:44

I lost 2st this summer and I finally love my body!!! That’s the best feeling. Having a flat stomach is 🙌🙌🙌 I can literally wear whatever I want. It’s so freeing!!

How is this nasty? That's how this poster lost weight. I didn't think of it as goady.

EveryDayisFriday · Yesterday 11:53

I've lost 6st after being overweight for over 30yrs, maintained for 6 months. I keep doing a double take in the mirror.

I love being a size 10 after being a size 20, knowing that I can walk into any shop and fit into their clothes. I spent decades never stepping into most high street stores.

I don't miss the red welts of bras holding up my 40GG boobs, my now 32E boobs are so much more comfortable.

Walking, especially uphill is so much easier without the extra mass on my knees.

Most of all, I'm enjoying feeling good about myself.

How is that nasty? They just seem proud of their achievements and know they look better now.

Deadringer · Yesterday 11:59

I just cut my toenails and it was easy! More generally, buying clothes i actually like, going upstairs without puffing, and enjoying walking the dog. Looking forward to a holiday without worrying about being a hot, fat, sweaty mess! I am not slim exactly, but slim enough to feel 'normal', and that's good enough for me.

startthedaywithkindnesd · Yesterday 12:07

@EveryDayisFriday we are boob twins 😂.. 40GG to 32E . I have an underwear addiction. I can wear pretty bits of nothingness . Chucking away all of my big old grey black and dark blue giant all encompassing pants was a very happy day.

After 6 months at goal I treated myself to a tummy tuck. Best decision I ever made. I couldn’t really enjoy my loss before that as I was a size 8/10 top and bottom but still an 18 round the waste with horrid folds of skin falling like an apron. Was so uncomfortable. I know some people who have had a massive loss , who got lucky and it just sprang back but mine didn’t - probably my age. Got luckier with my boobs though , they literally perked up. 🤣

It isn’t nasty to say you lost weight naturally, just as it’s nothing to be embarrassed about to say you needed the jabs. Losing weight is great however you do it, it’s not like saying you submitted a mountain when some people took the chair lift and others climbed - both ways take an effort, but that said it is undeniably harder to do it without jabs and there’s nothing wrong with her being proud of the achievement.

I’ve lost 10 stone this year through diet and exercise alone, and I do need to mention it in order to answer the question, because the thing that I’ve appreciated most is feeling so much stronger physically due to all the exercise. I ran a marathon recently. A whole marathon, without stopping. That’s something I could never have dreamt of before!

TheReplacement · Yesterday 12:16

All of the above but also my pelvic floor is much stronger and I don't panic about a sneaky wee escaping when I cough.

gravitarse · Yesterday 12:23

Bloody hell lester!!

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · Yesterday 12:27

I'm not slim yet. Down to 14 stone ish from 17ish. I am really appreciating being able to pop back upstairs/downstairs and back to fetch something forgotten without having to get out of breath (or having to negotiate/bribe a child to go for me)
