Hi posting this here for traffic. Hoping a medical professional can help me. I last had a period 15 years ago, they stopped dead after a traumatic event. I’m now 57 and I’m having a really painful heavy period! Does this happen sometimes? Is it normal or should I talk to my doctor? Tia

@Whyarepeople the doctor did say that if they were to do the hysteroscopy that it would be done under general. Thanks for the heads up about the ultrasound.
thanks @Passthecake30
@dizzydizzydizzy the doctor I spoke is the one who deals with women health. She couldn’t examine me as I have a heavy loss and didn’t want to wait until it stops.
thanks @EBearhug hopefully I won’t wet myself!

That's good news about the hysteroscopy. Good luck with the appointment - as others have said, the vast majority of cases are benign.

So pleased that the hysteroscopy is being done under GA. It can be a pretty painful experience for some women. It’s also great that you’re being seen so quickly. I hope you’re sorted just as quickly.

Hi just a little update. I went yesterday and had a pelvic ultrasound and an internal ultrasound, which was quite painful which I’m putting down to the fact that I have had a bleed this week. I asked the radiographer if she could see anything but she said that the team will look at the scans and then contact me within 2 weeks. I’m really not expecting anything bad as I feel fine apart.from the ‘period’ I’ll keep updating 👍

It’s always frustrating when the radiographer says nothing. We all know they know! I hope you get the results soon so you can plan any next steps.

Thanks @RiaOverTheRainbow @JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn yes goiing to be the longest 2 weeks of my life! I don’t want them to find anything sinister but I want them to find something so that I know why I’m bleeding. Iykwim.
