What would be a good name for a German style Oompah band?

Any ideas would be gratefully received. If they are amusing, then even better! Thank you. Smile

The Jumper Stickers (as in ‘oompah, oompah, stick it up yer jumper’)

There was a rather charming song released by a duo called The Two Leslies, who were popular in the 1930s, called 'Umpa, Umpa (Stick It Up Your Jumper)'.

The only problem (for me), though was that they pronounced 'umpa' in their own southern English accent, rather than in the German way - meaning that, instead of having silly fun with the fact that the German word oompah rhymes with the English word jumper (even more so when said in a northern accent), they were basically just saying 'jumper' twice, but without the initial 'J' the first time!

Is this for a real band or fictional?

I congratulate everyone on the excellent puns on this thread.

There is a German/Yorkshire mash up
oompah band near me called The Frumptarn Gungenband.

SoMuchToBits · 26/10/2026 16:47

It's for a kind of fictional band. Some people on here may know that from time to time I post Playmobil events, and I'm currently planning my Christmas one for this year. I was thinking of different performers for the annual concert, and thought I could make up an Oompah band. I have several instruments I could use (tuba, trumpet, saxophone, accordion, drums, string bass) and some lederhosen-clad Playmobil people! Smile
