Oh please please please let it somehow be Henry Cavill. Is anyone here deciding? Can you choose Henry?

Callum Turner and Jack Lowden

I could see him bringing some humour. Slow Horses balances the grit with proper laughs. Bond has always been quippy. Just a thought. 😊

I'm going to carry on with my Slow Horses binge today!

I can't escape the rather brilliant notion that if Jack Lowden gets it, James Bond will (sort of) be played by Morrissey 😂

😂 What film is that from?

Bless him, I think he's great. Younger me would have a huge crush 😊

England is Mine. It's got a pre-superstardom Jodie Comer in it too. It's about Morrissey's life before he met Johnny Marr and formed the Smiths, when he was working in the local DSS office and trudging moodily around Manchester trying to form a band. It's pretty good!

He was chillingly great in The Gold, as Kenny Noye, if he plays it somewhere between that level of underlying menace and River Cartwright I think he could be really good as Bond!

Ohhh I didn't see that. Didn't know he was in it. Might give it a look

No way! Love Jodie Comer. Don't know how I missed that. Too much to watch!

He really was. Brilliant show.

I might rewatch it myself later! The Smiths have been my favourite band since 1983 and I am fiercely protective of them but even I thought he did a grand job. JC is fabulous!

Heyelpheyelp · 25/10/2026 09:48

I like Josh O’Connor best, but I think he would be wasted as Bond. Callum Turner is unattractive to me. James Bond has to be handsome or I will not be happy!
So that leaves Jack Lowden - he’d do fine, I reckon.

BattleHimForARepublic · 25/10/2026 09:50

I’d forgotten how excellent Jack Lowden was in The Gold!

I used to mildly admire Callum Turner but the whole 24 hr media power couple thing has been a tad off putting. And there are other people I’d prefer to Dua Lipa to provide the theme song.

Has Saoirse Ronan ever appeared in a Bond movie? That might be cool.

RedRiverShore6 · 25/10/2026 09:53

Jack Lowden, I hope, not that I watch it anyway

RedRiverShore6 · 25/10/2026 09:56

Callum Turner reminds me of the bloke that played Sherlock.

toweldry · 25/10/2026 09:57

Henry is gorgeous but too old as they don’t want to change in a few years. Fingers x he pops up as a villain.

rughorror · 25/10/2026 09:58

I just do not see the appeal of Callum Turner at all - I don't find him attractive and he's been decidedly underwhelming as an actor in all the films I've seen him in too. I was convinced he must be some sort of nepo baby but when I looked him up it seems he's from quite a deprived or at least ordinary background, so good for him I suppose, but I still don't get it. Josh O'Conner, on the other hand, is so talented he would be wasted on Bond.

It feels like this debate has been going on forever though and just about every actor I have heard of has been in the running at one time or another. I hope it's finally going to be over now.

i think i read there was another candidate name not given

mugglewump · 25/10/2026 10:04

I'm team Lowden; he has the spy credentials (Slow Horses) and he is Scottish (Connery, Skyfall).

toweldry · 25/10/2026 10:07

I don’t really like any of the 3 options, I would vote for Theo James

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/10/2026 10:27

or Jamie Dornan

Did you listen to the documentary on BBC sounds. Rise and fall of The Smiths I think it was called? It was good. 😊

Oh pleeeeease not Callum Turner. He’s so ugly. And his head is the same width as his neck.

I’d be very pleased with Jack Lowden. He’d not be River Cartwright, he’d be James Bond. I also used to think he was short but he’s actually 6’1, so tall enough.

Oh is he? I really had him down as much shorter.

Oh yes a gorgeous villain. I’d take that.

For comparison. Daniel Craig is 58.
Henry Cavill a mere 43!

I want James Norton to be Bond

researchers3 · 25/10/2026 15:37

Norton or Page.

They do need to be reasonably young to get 3 - 5 films in before they look like a grandad.

I loved DC as Bond but in the last one he looked like the leading woman's grandfather.

Hopefully they'll have some older female characters in it for a change.
