Who else is unwell?

Dear god, this is a bad one 🤦🏻‍♂️ started 5 days ago with sore throat, didn't feel too bad apart from that. Has progressed from tickly cough to chesty cough with bad body aches and now runny nose. Mild fever

I feel so utterly awful. Lying in bed feeling too unwell to sleep, read or watch TV. Taking paracetamol/ ibuprofen and Benylin chesty cough syrup. Eating and drinking pretty normally

Chat GPT reckons it's viral bronchitis, could also be COVID I guess. Anyone else feeling similar, or been through similar recently?

Oh lord @Fiftyandme , that's just rotten 🤦🏻‍♂️ you poor thing. Absolutely miserable

How did they diagnose flu by the way?

Just my symptoms and I tested negative for Covid on day three.

I never knew flu could last three weeks.

thd irony is that I was booked in for flu jab but I had already caught the damned thing

Yes, diagnosed with bronchitis, and the Dr was concerned it was settling and could develop into pneumonia. A double dose of strong antibiotics, followed by a third, prevented me having to go into hospital, thank God.

I did have to cancel a planned Greek holiday ...that was a pain.
It lasted almost 4 weeks....hopefully yours wont be nearly as bad.

That is really poor timing for the holiday - what a disappointment

I take daily omega 3, vit E, vit D, a women’s probiotic, magnesium and zinc. This seems to be working in terms of preventing colds and bugs (and I’m a primary
teacher, so surrounded by them!). I did have a sore throat, but it went away as quickly as it started! I also used to have recurrent UTIs, but they have also stopped since starting the above.

SharkPants · 22/10/2026 20:58

I've had this.
I got ill several weeks ago, with aches, thought I'd conquered it, went back to work and then got struck down again!
Started with a sore throat, then aches, really strange fever where I felt like I was burning up, but it would be short lived and then temperature would return to normal. The cough started a couple of days in, and my goodness, it's horrendous. I was off work for almost a week because it is so severe, it sounds so alarming when I cough and I cannot get an entire sentence out. It has made me vomit and wet myself!!! Not glamorous. All my ribs ache from coughing.
Thankfully the tiredness is subsiding, but I am really hoping this goes soon. Feeling very fed up.
I did go to the walk in centre with this, and it appears that it's quite wide spread at the moment. The whole waiting room was full of coughs and fevers and the nurse said there's flu and COVID everywhere at the moment.
Get well soon everyone.

I echo that, /\ hopefully everyone will be well soon. x

EmmaStone · 23/10/2026 14:28

Get well
soon everyone! I took a Covid test last night, but was negative. Feel pretty much back to normal today, which I think is so weird after fever, body aches and crushing fatigue Monday night and all day Tuesday! I’ve never recovered so quickly from anything that had me feverish and shaking!

SaraHoliday · 23/10/2026 14:47

How are you feeling today @Lottapianos ?

How are you feeling today @Lottapianos ?

Ah thanks @SaraHoliday ☺️

Feeling absolutely rotten, which is actually an improvement from yesterday! Fever spiked again yesterday afternoon but has stayed down since. Spoke to GP today and he has prescribed antibiotics - thinks I have a secondary infection on top of the original virus because of how long it's going on with no improvement.

So hopefully will be back in the land of the living in next few days 🤞it's been a pretty shocking week, can't remember the last time I felt so ill. Gentle hugs to everyone 💓

I had it a few weeks ago. I got some really good all in one Morrisons own capsules and felt loads better. Just have to make sure I have to get the ones without caffeine in or I don’t sleep. But all the mucus cough and runny nose went after just taking a few.

NotwhatIhadinmind · 23/10/2026 15:49

It's not just me then, that is a relief.
Started feeling unwell on Monday, had to bail out of work on Tuesday lunchtime and although I'm back at my desk today, I ache SO much, mainly arms, shoulders and neck. Plus ringing ears, scratchy cough, runny nose. The tiredness is quite something, I have zero concentration.
Please make it stop

Take it as easy as you can @NotwhatIhadinmind , and take time off work if you possibly can. I pushed on through the first few days and ended up with a chest infection on top of the original virus x

I'm on week 5 and starting to feel a bit better, but feel so incredibly weak and can do very little.

Mumofyellows · 23/10/2026 22:11

I have been ill all week. Started on Thursday with a scratchy sore throat but I had also just had a new hay delivery for my horse so initially thought it was that as sometimes it triggers allergies…Friday, Saturday and Sunday I had what I thought was just a cold. Snotty and a mild sore throat but managed to carry on fine. Sunday night it changed, throat like razor blades that made me want to cry it hurt so much. Zero energy but couldn’t sleep. Hot and cold. Tickle cough. Throat is almost better now and am left with a bad cold, cough and sinus pain. Had 3 days off work as just felt so fuzzy and unwell I couldn’t focus. Awful!

Jupitercore · Yesterday 02:38

I live on the South Coast, and Covid is rife here atm. The hospital is understaffed due to Covid and Flu. I hope you feel better soon, lots of fluids and rest op.

I think it's Covid, I literally went to A&E because thought that I'm in the middle of stroke. My Covid test was positive, the whole family, including kids, were sick after me .I don't remember being that sick even with my first Covid.

That's awful @Saddaughter999 , poor you. My COVID test was negative, but I'm absolutely convinced that I do have it. I have every single symptom including loss of taste and smell 🙄

I'm just getting over this..it's been around a fortnight. Started with a horrible cough and razor throat (only way I can describe) then really chesty and feverish and a banging head. It's awful! Hope everyone gets better soon who also has it!

NotwhatIhadinmind · Yesterday 18:05

If it's any reassurance, I'm feeling a lot better now. Still tired and a bit achey but definitely on the mend.
Sympathies to all who are suffering 💐

WildUmberCrow · Yesterday 18:39

Yes, identical. Day 5 for me today and feel dreadful. (Covid test negative just for interest) Just crawled out of bed to sit up for a bit. Last night, only way I could contain the cough was by sitting up but I just can't sleep unless lying completely flat so utterly exhausted.
