Child’s 6th birthday party and dilemma about the venue.

So my LO has his 6th birthday next year and I have started to research things slowly.
Realistically I have 3 options:

Venue A is where literally everyone goes. It’s in our town, a walking distance, close to school so it’s accessible both to those who’s driving and who’s not. It’s your typical soft place with party/host/food package.

Venue B is a soft play in also local leisure centre. It offers only soft play, no outside food allowed, no hosts nothing, basically just run around for 2 hours with friends. Also cheapest

Venue C which I guess like more is in a neighbouring town - about 25min drive from school. It’s a combo trampoline and soft play party with food, party host, party room etc. It’s 45 min trampoline and 45 soft play + 30 min for food but I’m worried that the distance would put a lot of parents off. I’m planning around 12ish kids maybe. Most expensive one but not by lot .

Help, which one would you choose!!

Your kid is turning 6, you want them to have fun with their friends. You don't need fancy food and hosts - get the local offering that means most kids can attend.
Save the big fancy party for when they're older and will appreciate it more.

I’d go for either option A or C (most likely C). I wouldn’t go for option B because it doesn’t offer food…I think that’s not good at all. Where we live people wouldn’t mind travelling for 20-30mins to get to a venue for a birthday party.

Yes, end of January. Next year doesn’t mean May or something

Venue A

ToKittyornottoKitty · 18/10/2026 13:51

A, or B if you can’t afford A. Not sure why you are considering C

Pernicketywishes · 18/10/2026 13:52

A or C I’d say.
C sounds pretty good and people will lift share and you can offer to take a couple. Is there another friend with a birthday around the same time that you could do a double party with? That would make it cheaper and there’s extra car space for anyone needing a lift.

cartagenagina · 18/10/2026 13:52

Option A

Jamlighter · 18/10/2026 13:52

A - life is too short to complicate these things

movingtotheslowlane · 18/10/2026 14:08

Venue A.

Thisusernameisalwaysavailable · 18/10/2026 14:21

A.
Kiss.

😘

RingsLikeTinnitis · 18/10/2026 14:23

A

Easiest, cheaper than C and more people will be able to attend.

ToffeeTea · 18/10/2026 14:28

Ah…
Ok considering option A. I just thought because all the parties we have attended are in that place, and we like to go there sometimes on weekends too, it might get a bit boring and repetitive for the kids, the same place every time. Maybe I’m just thinking too much.
Maybe keep the option C when they are a bit older.

A definitely.
Then B.
The longer drive of C would put me off.

Me too. I don't drive. It's a faff then It's not local. And no It's not always easy to get a lift.

Goofish · 18/10/2026 14:29

A. Do C in a couple of years' time.

Erinann · 18/10/2026 14:30

C

They don’t care where they are or how much you spend, they just want to run around with friends at a party. And the parents want close by with little hassle, hence A.

Somedayitwillclick · 18/10/2026 14:36

What does your child want? Class parties aren’t the norm round here. Option 3 would be a standard party and maybe 10-12 kids are invited

Fieldday26 · 18/10/2026 14:40

I’d go option C, give out invites in plenty of time that if people can’t make it then you can invite a couple more kids. Any kids that he’s close to that don’t drive I’d offer a lift to.

Parties should be different / special imo, going to the same soft play multiple times does get boring.

The OP has said she is planning to invite around 12 kids.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 18/10/2026 14:41

How well do you know the kids parents. If you know all drive go for c if not A

Yupstillhere · 18/10/2026 14:42

A all day long
