Would you go? Just got back from krakow, absolutely loved it. Planning a return trip, as I didn’t see everything wanted to see. Thinking of going in January. Anyone been then?

We went in January. It was snowing . We went to Auschwitz but the coldest place was Birkenau. We had big coats but the wind whistled across. I couldn’t stop thinking about the poor prisoners in their thin pyjamas and no shoes .

Is there any reason you want to go in January? We went to Auschwitz on an unseasonably warm trip to Krakow in February and Auschwitz was the only place that felt unpleasantly cold. It is mainly outdoors so by the end you just want to sit somewhere warm. If it was me I would wait until spring unless you are keen to see the snow.

@Gloschickits the only time that fits in with my annual leave. Otherwise I’d go later In the year.

Thinking about going to the spa at Zakopane, has anyone done it? Is it worth it? Was planning to go on the train, but looks like a guided tour is quicker.

We went to Zakopane. Took the train there and Flixbus back (trains v limited on a Sunday). Is it worth it? Yes, well I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Beautiful mountains. Plenty of skiing. Lots of little stalls selling cheese, potato spirals and waffles. There is a nice museum to learn about Goral culture and plenty of thermal spa type places in the area. Expect it to be busy. When we went 2 years ago the majority of tourists were Poles.

Sorry, just reread your post. Spa in Zakopane is fine but v busy and not any more special then any other spa. Good as part of a general visit to Zakopane, not sure if journey worth it for the spa only.

I really enjoyed the spa, it was lovely in the freezing weather. We did the organised day trip but if I did it again I'd stay one night in zakopane. The day trip is quite rushed.

@InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing my neighbour recommended it to us but we didn’t have time. She said it was amazing
