My DSis is very much a 'foodie' (as am I!) and is coming over on Sunday for cake and a cup of tea. What interesting cake recipes would you recommend to make? She always likes something that's a bit different or a bit of a talking point.

Miso caramel blondies - delicious. Magazine https://share.google/pol9Mkr7lBlfjQd5v

I've made these a couple of times and they've gone down very well.
I swapped the chocolate chips for pistachios once and chopped pecans the second time for less sweetness and a more interesting texture.

Just remembered that these were delicious too.

I make a lavender and lime cake, homemade lavender syrup to flavour the sponge and use as a drizzle, lime buttercream and lime curd...it's divine 😋

I did an amazing coffee, cumin and pistachio once - no idea what the recipe was but Google will help if you like the sound of it

Make a 3 foot tall croquembouche and stick sparklers in the top. Always impresses my friends.🎇

Go traditional! Caraway seed cake has a lovely spiced taste and takes me back to my childhood.

So very retro, it’s also delicious spread with black cherry jam or with some ripe raspberries.

I ended up badly injuring myself on Friday morning! So unable to get to the shop I cobbled this together from what I had in the cupboards on Sunday morning.
It's delicious! Really easy to make (don't tell DSis that!) and weirdly made with breadcrumbs. This is the gf version.

not sure how to upload pic as on desktop but it was great

Ballymaloe's Tunisian Orange Cake (Gluten Free)

Tunisian Orange Cake, with its citrusy zest and moist crumb is a dinner party favourite - super easy to make and so good.

@kdctu sorry to hear that! I hope your sister appreciated your efforts given the injury. 🙂

I recently had (didn’t make) a tea loaf, where the tea was Chai rather than ordinary tea.
