Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, with boy cat. We were snuggled in bed but I decided it was time for a cuppa! So far I've put recycling out, washer on, and had a quick tidy round in the kitchen and living room.

Dd2's up but not been down yet - she was listening to Hades Town again as I came down. Dd1 was out out last night so I don't expect to hear for hours.

My plan for the day is continue working my way through some of my to-do downstairs before Christmas list. I'd like to get through most of it before Halloween so I can spend half term sorting the rest of the living room. Thankfully the to-do's are not huge in number so entirely do-able.

Once I've done a few things, I'll either carry on my crochet project, or nip into town for something for my stupidly dry & coarse hair 🙄. Probably crochet & a quick nip in after work one day I think. I'll measure the kitchen cupboards too - I've decided I'd like to wrap ribbon 'present' bows around them at Christmas so need to know how much ribbon!

No idea what's for tea yet - burgers & wedges maybe 🤔. Then a couple of hours Christmas planning before reading & bed 😊.

What about you? 🙂

Happy Saturday all!

Hope everyone is well. I was up horribly early after a pretty disturbed night. Nothing to put my finger on, just couldn't settle. But it meant I was up and into Asda by 7:45 for the weekly shop. Whizzed round there, and then drove the 10 minutes or so to the large-ish ethnic supermarket in our town. They do some lovely bottled sauces that I can't get anywhere else, so stocked up on them and got a few juices in fun flavours for the family to try.

Took the shopping home and then decided to pop over to the local garden centre to see their christmas displays, but it wasn't ready yet! I'd been to another garden centre last weekend, and theirs was fully up and running! Perhaps I'll try again in another month. I did spot some nice gifts for a few people, so will probably go back for those.

Home via the lovely farm shop just down the road. Got some nice bread rolls, a bit of fruit and veg and a chocolate loaf cake. :) That'll be nice in front of the telly this evening!

Next job is going to be some weeding in the gravel out the front. It's got away from me the last month or so after some good rain (finally), so looks a bit rubbish.

Then hopefully I'll settle down for a little nap. :)

Afternoon. Park run this morning (a PB so pleased with that) then tried to get a bike rack for our new towbar. Failed in that endeavour. Brunch then a trip to Aldi for the weekly shop. Now watching Leeds.

When DD gets home got some bits to do with her, then it’s burgers and last night’s Traitors this evening.

Have a lovely day all.

Trying to summon the energy to put the last of the bulbs in the garden but just cannot be arsed tbh. Have washed the bedroom curtains ( this happens about once a decade), emptied the bins and had an unsuccessful trawl round local charity shops.

Afternoon all!

I’m just catching up with the F1 Sprint race then off to footy with DH. I’m helping out at my local theatre tonight, we have a magician show on so I’m working the bar. It’s my first time back working there since my surgery in June and I’m looking forward to a bit of normality again.

Uni open day with DS

Tiddlywinks63 · 10/10/2026 13:30

Good afternoon, better late than never I guess!
I spent the morning at my friend’s house doing watercolour painting, very informative and relaxing.
i did put a chicken in the slow cooker before i left and hung the washing out after changing the bed.
The sun is shining and I have some wallflowers to plant before I tackle my very untidy craft room. I have far too much stuff so I plan to spend an hour or so sorting it out and I’ll give anything I don’t want away.
i have a delivery of mulch coming Monday then that’s garden pretty much sorted for the next few months apart from brushing up leaves etc.
Chicken and chips for dinner, cba to faff today.
Have a lovely afternoon.

@Simonjt it's grown back curly/wavy, coarse & very dry after the chemo. I'll try anything!

@lucysmam maybe you could get a spray bottlr and put water and some leave in conditioner for dry hair or some coconut oil and use daily. If coconut oil is too light a heavier oil like Amla oil may work well.

TheChosenTwo · 10/10/2026 13:47

Bit late to be in the morning crew now!
Had a productive but boring morning, did a bit of housework while the boys were at football, sorted washing, dishwasher etc.
dh and I are just getting ready to go out for a late lunch, ds doesn’t want to come.
then I want to try on a winter coat - it’s been bloody freezing these last few days.
got to go and help my mum with a quick job later, and will visit a friend in hospital this evening (we have a rota for visiting 😂), luckily our hospital has brilliant visiting hours between 10-8 every day so it’s easy to co-ordinate visits.

Giggorata · 10/10/2026 13:51

Good day lucysmam and all.
A late lie in today as I binge watched Ludwig last night and then realised there was a new episode of Celebrity Traitors.
So done some laundry, made some yogurt and now having tomato marscapone pasta leftovers for brunch. Autocorrect has clearly never heard of marscapone, wonder if I’m spelling it correctly…

This afternoon, I’m painting colours on to a very elaborate big glass jar, in which to put fairy lights. I found them in a cupboard; they are working, really long and plug into the mains with an adaptor. They are so hopelessly tangled that I thought they might just as well go straight in.

This evening is a coven meeting and when I'm out, DH will do himself a steak.
He is still too scared to use his new posh Ninja air fryer, despite me telling him to watch videos etc, so I guess we'll have to have a joint session at some point.
I have forbidden him to use my small bright yellow one, so that it doesn't get cacked up. 🙄 Honestly, you wouldn’t believe… or maybe you would.

BigBadPotato · 10/10/2026 13:51

Sounds like a lovely day, very productive!
It is my husband’s birthday today so we did cards and presents first thing with the children, then he went off to work. Maize harvesting today for one of our customers so my eldest (5yo) naturally wanted to go too. In their absence, youngest (1.5yo) and I have been to Waitrose for various bits for tea and finishing touches for his birthday cake and now I’m back in the field, because youngest wanted a go too, much to eldest’s disgust at having to get out so we’re currently watching them go around and around!

Bringyourfoldingchair · 10/10/2026 16:17

Afternoon all!

I got up early and cleaned downstairs and made some sausages. DH took DS12 to rugby and I lay on a bit the me, ds3 and ds8 went to Lidl for the food shop. Met my lovely mum and went and ordered our new wooden floor. We then went for a coffee and took the kiddies to the toy shop to spend the £10 each my uncle gave them yesterday. Got home and done washing and am now relaxing on the sofa.

DH has just lit the fire for the first time this season. Tonight DS12 and DS8 have youth club. When I collect them and get them in their cosies I’ll have some wine and I bought some cheese, chutney, bread olives and sun-dried tomatoes for later.

Hope everyone has had a nice day!

lucysmam · 10/10/2026 16:48

@Hippeedippeemee thanks for the suggestions for my hair. Leave in conditioner & coconut oil don't really do much for it so I'll try Amla oil - I've never heard of it before today so will do some research beforehand.

Good evening @lucysmam & everyone. What a day! DH brought me a cuppa in bed before he started work & I got up about 8.45. Clock watching as usual on a Saturday as starting my shift at 12 plus had to pop over to DM’s care home to look at a potential new room for her. Also popped to Spar PO to get some cash out & was informed by a rather grumpy lady that I had a big bagful of parcels out the back. I said I would collect them later. To be fair, they don’t have a big storage area & I had started to use other shops instead but then forgot! Still going crazy with Vinted. Fed the rabbits to save DH a job. Would have rung the theatre Box Office as I couldn’t find my E tickets but found out they now open 2 til 5. Work was absolutely INSANE! Hardly any staff in & a massive queue most of the time. It’s only going to get busier so things will have to change. Very relieved to finish at 4. I collected yet another parcel from the Inpost locker at the market then went to pick up a couple of vintage style storage boxes from a private seller. They’re really nice & the smaller one is ideal for displaying my brooches etc. Then to the PO where a non - grumpy lady processed my sackful of parcels. I bought a scratch card with loose change & won my £1 back! Also treated myself to a twix extra as I hadn’t had lunch & was starving. Ate it with a lovely cuppa when I got home. Bought yet more brooches on Vinted! Now cooking tea which is battered jumbo sausages, chips & peas. Had the same but with beans last night. I was going to get Asda pizzas but couldn’t be bothered! We’ll watch The Voice & generally chill. DD17 is still away. I have to say it’s been bliss! Need to do a meal plan. I haven’t done one for a few weeks & it’s been so much harder - really surprised me actually. Haven’t read the thread so hope everyone’s had a good day so far ❤️

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 10/10/2026 19:21

Eventually located my tickets - going to see “Eric & Ernie” on Monday which I’m really looking forward to

HoneyButterPopcorn · 11/10/2026 11:07

Shopping, housework, ironing… but if work to do for tomorrow…. Nothing very exciting…
