Headaches, nausea and body aches for over a week now. Sleep has been rubbish and I’m surviving on paracetamol. It’s horrible but not unusual, flu is rife in transitional seasons

Berlinlover · 09/10/2026 13:15

Yes, for the past two weeks. I work on a supermarket checkout and have chemo every three weeks so it’s not surprising.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 09/10/2026 13:16

@OnlyFoolsnMothers Hope it passes quickly for you.

i was due to get flu vaccine but held off as felt unwell.
I think I may have Covid but largely irrelevant nowadays I guess.

@Berlinlover hope you’re not feeling too unwell 💐

I’d say 50% of my colleagues have had it so far.
i usually manage to power through but am off sick and feeling very guilty.

A lot of us have it or have had a cold / flu-but-not-flu type virus, and tested negative for Covid. There are a couple of other threads on here.

My DH spoke to a neighbour up the road yesterday, and she's got the exact same symptoms as me. I'm starting to feel better now, after more than a fortnight of it.

I had a quick look but didn’t see any other threads, technology is not my strong point!

2weeks? Have you managed to do normal stuff and work?

Yes I have a cold currently. It’s never too early for a cold, you can get them any time of year!

Could be the newest Covid strain ? Took a friend three tests over a few days to test positive.
I still use tests if unwell as I know several people really struggling for years with long Covid, so I am really careful so as not to infect anyone.

sethrogansaunt · 09/10/2026 17:18

I almost always get ill the third week of October… It came on the 20th September this year! Only just feeling better.

AmberCatz · 09/10/2026 18:19

yep, struggling since last night! Planning to take a covid test later.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 09/10/2026 18:21

I’ve got another thread on this now. Whatever it is seems worse than the usual cold. More like flu. Aches, temperature, banging headache. Tested for Covid twice and negative.

Agree with you re sleep. Just when I need a good night’s sleep I’m not sleeping properly!

cantsitdown · 09/10/2026 18:25

About 2 weeks here. Sore throat, nausea, headaches, body aches and keep getting hot then cold. I feel awful and it doesn’t seem to be going, everyone I know has it as well, I think it’s possibly Covid as I know some others with the same symptoms tested positive but I haven’t done a test yet!.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 09/10/2026 19:47

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain ive never sweated so much in my life…cold sweats.
have avoided body aches so far but have upper back ache.

just washed hair and needed to lay down after!

Oh god two weeks?! I started feeling ill Wednesday evening, it got worse yesterday and now it's really come out today. I feel awful, hot / cold, shivery and sweaty, cotton wool head, sore throat, runny nose and chesty cough. I was hoping to be back at work on Monday...! (Work as a community midwife so really don't want to be infecting pregnant women and newborn babies with this and can't work from home either 🙈)

user293948849167 · 09/10/2026 20:53

Yes I’ve had suspected Covid, got better but now getting ill again with cold symptoms.
I’m never usually ill!

elm26 · 09/10/2026 20:58

Our household is going into week 5 of it. Started off cold like with sore throats, blocked noses then went to headaches, upset stomachs and snotty nose then switched up again to body aches and coughing. DH, the 2 kids and me are all following the same pattern. It’s awful! Hope you all feel better soon!

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 10/10/2026 09:37

@fluffblue I’m also healthcare and suffering off sick guilt.
thought might be ok by Monday but apart from the physical symptoms I feel incapable of dealing with the simplest things and everything feels like the end of the world.

Not the way to be feeling as the responsible go to person.

I'm retired anyway, but normal stuff like housework, shopping, cooking etc? No. I've been awake coughing all night and half asleep in a chair all day. DH has taken over the lot. Two and a half weeks now, and three days of antibiotics later, and I thought I was over the worst of it until I went shopping this afternoon, walked round for half an hour and felt like curling up on the floor in Matalan I was so exhausted.

WhatHappenedToYourFurnitureCuz · 10/10/2026 17:13

I've had something all week. A friend tried to get me some painkillers from Boots and they were sold out because so many people have it. Never seen that in my life!

whyexactlythough · 10/10/2026 17:49

Yeah DH has had it for a week. And he’s still feeling rough.

Catcooper25uk · 10/10/2026 22:15

I went home from work early on Wednesday (I work at an airport) because I felt like my head was going to explode and my legs kept feeling like jelly. I have since spent the last few days bedbound because I went downhill fairly quickly. Pounding headache, D&V can't taste or smell anything every muscle in my body aching still feeling like death warmed up now have had to call in sick today and tomorrow for work and am most likely going to have to call in sick Mon and Tuesday as well ive actually not felt this ill in years.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 11/10/2026 09:49

Hope everyone is feeling better.
Have moments of thinking I feel better until I do anything apart from sitting around.
feel bit dizzy this morning, presume it’s my ears as head feels full.

@Catcooper25uk I’m also working up courage to say I’m not going back to work yet.

@AmberCatz did you take a Covid test? How are you feeling?

OP posts:
madnessallaround · 11/10/2026 09:54

had a horrible cold/sore throat/blocked ear, lost my voice and now almost three weeks later have pain around back
of my ribs which I assume is due to all the coughing.l? Or possible chest infection, but usually when I have those my chest is rattly.
